Japan’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) leader Sanae Takaichi has become the new Prime Minister of the country. She also created history by becoming the first woman Prime Minister of Japan. The LDP and the right-wing Japan Innovation Party (Ishin) achieved this victory in alliance, giving Sanae Takaichi the majority to become PM.

Sanae Takaichi has openly expressed her desire to become an ‘Iron Woman’. After the LDP party won the victory, in his speech he rejected the concept of work-life balance and urged party members to work hard and contribute to the progress of the country.

MPs urged to work like horses

Takaichi said, ‘I myself would reject the term ‘work-life balance’. I will just work, work, work. Apart from this, the new PM requested the party MPs to work as quickly as horses. However, this statement of PM was also criticized by many Japanese leaders.

Addressing the nation after the victory, Sanae Takaichi said, ‘At this moment, instead of happiness, I feel the difficulties to come. We have a lot of work to do together. This is what I believe, there are many policies which need to be implemented soon.

He further said, ‘Together we will make LDP a more enthusiastic, positive and energetic party. LDP will also have to make efforts to form a party that can convert people’s concerns into hope.

PM Modi congratulated the new Prime Minister of Japan

UAE President congratulated

Not only PM Modi, the new Prime Minister of Japan is receiving good wishes from all over the world. UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan also congratulated Takaichi. Posting on ‘X’, he said, ‘I wish him success in taking the country towards more progress and development.’

He further wrote, ‘I congratulate Sanae Takaichi on becoming the Prime Minister of Japan. Building on the foundation of our comprehensive strategic partnership, I look forward to further deepening UAE-Japan relations and working together to promote the development and prosperity of our countries and peoples,’

Takaichi won by more votes than the opposition

Let us tell you that on Tuesday, Sanae Takaichi secured a simple majority in both the houses of the Parliament of Japan, known as ‘Diet’. The LDP formed an alliance with the Japan Innovation Party and reportedly signed an agreement to form a coalition government.

According to Kyodo report, Takaichi avoided the second round of elections by winning the first round of voting in the lower house. He got 237 votes against 149 votes of Yoshihiko Noda, leader of Japan’s Congress Democratic Party.

After becoming the new Prime Minister of Japan, Takaichi said in his speech that if everyone works together, Japan can be rebuilt. Appealing to everyone to work hard, she said, ‘I will not take care of ‘work-life balance’ myself. I will just work, work and work.

For the first time in the history of Japan, a woman became the Prime Minister and Sanae Takaichi made this feat successful. According to Reuters report, Takaichi got 237 votes in the lower house of Japan’s Parliament, which is considered very high in the 465-seat house. She learned politics from former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and married the same person twice. However, even after marrying twice she could not become a mother. Takaichi’s critics also call him Daily Trump. He got this title because of his staunch image. She married fellow MP Taku Yamamoto in 2004, which lasted until 2017. Both of them got divorced in July 2017. However, both of them got married for the second time in December 2021, but neither of them have any children. In such a situation, she has adopted Yamamoto’s three children from his first marriage, due to which Takaichi is today the grandmother of four grandchildren.

Sanae Takaichi has strong views, vocally opposing both gay marriage and the right of married couples to have different surnames. Now let’s talk about why she could not become a mother. Although there is not much information about this available in the public domain, but if you look at Japanese outlets, you will find that Sanae Takaichi had written in her official column (in 2007) in Japanese that she had suffered from a gynecological disease, due to which she had to undergo surgery. After this, pregnancy and delivery became difficult for her, due to which she gave up her dream of becoming a mother.
