The stand of Nitish Kumar’s party JDU on UGC Bill 2026 has been revealed. Party spokesperson and MLC Neeraj Kumar said that Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar has made the Constitution in this country. Everyone has the right to express their views in the Constitution. In such a situation, any feeling of neglect or resentment in any section of the society is not auspicious for democracy. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is a role model of development for all and respect for all along with justice. Various types of comments are being made regarding the new regulation that has come from UGC. Now a petition has been filed in the Supreme Court in this regard. Everyone respects the judiciary, so now the decision of the judiciary will be important for everyone.

Why are the new guidelines of UGC being opposed?

UGC Equity Regulations 2026 came into effect this month

OBC category included in the definition of caste discrimination

Provisions like fine or suspension on false or malicious complaints removed

According to the general category, the law can be misused to target them

It is claimed that the person filing a false complaint will not fear any punishment.

Petition filed in Supreme Court

The new guidelines of UGC have increased the political temperature in UP. Many BJP officials even resigned over this. A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court regarding this. The petition alleged that a non-inclusive definition of caste-based discrimination has been adopted and certain categories have been excluded from institutional protection.

Demand for ban from court

The Supreme Court has been requested to stop its implementation in its present form and to redefine caste-based discrimination in a ‘caste-neutral and Constitution-compliant’ manner. It says, “Discrimination on the basis of caste should be defined in such a way that all persons who are victims of discrimination on the basis of caste are protected, irrespective of their caste identity.” The petition has sought to give interim directions to the Central Government and the UGC to ensure that the ‘Equal Opportunity Centres’ and ‘Equality Helpline’ etc. created under these rules are made available without any discrimination.
