An important news has come out for lakhs of students who dream of becoming engineers. New information has been released regarding JEE Advanced 2026, one of the most difficult and prestigious examinations in the country. This time the examination conducting body IIT Roorkee has released the official syllabus.

The biggest thing is that there has been no change in the pattern of the examination. That means, for the students who have been preparing for a long time, this news is no less than a relief. Now they will not need to change the direction of their preparation.

when will the exam be held

JEE Advanced 2026 exam will be conducted on 17 May 2026. This examination will be conducted in computer based test i.e. CBT mode at different centers of the country. Like every year, this time too the examination will be conducted in two papers on the same day.

It will be necessary for students to give both the papers. If a candidate gives only one paper, his/her result will not be considered valid. Therefore, it is very important to give both the papers with full preparation on the day of examination.

• The first paper will run from 9 am to 12 noon. The second paper will be held from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
• Questions will be asked from Physics, Chemistry and Maths in both the papers. Although there may be slight changes in the number and type of questions every year, the basic structure of the examination will remain the same.

What is special in the syllabus

The same major topics as in previous years have been included in the syllabus released by IIT Roorkee. This means that students do not need to run after new books or new subjects.

Students who are already preparing can continue their further studies only on the basis of their old notes, books and previous year question papers. This can strengthen their preparation.

NTA made major changes in the schedule

Earlier the JEE Main Session 2 exam was to be held from April 2 to April 9, 2026, but now it has been reduced to April 8, 2026. As per the new schedule, now Paper 1 (BE/BTech) is on 2, 4, 5, 6 and 8 April and Paper 2 (BArch/BPlanning) is on 7 April. The examination will be conducted in two shifts every day. In which the first shift will be from 9 am to 12 noon and the second shift will be from 3 pm to 6 pm.

1. Downloading the city slip is very easy. First of all the official website of JEE Main jeemain.nta.nic.in Go to.

2. Click on Advance City Intimation link on the homepage.

3. Now enter your application number and password.

4. Click on Submit button.

5. Your city slip will appear on the screen.

6. Download it and take a print out and keep it safe.

When will the admit card come?

Till now NTA has not announced the date of release of admit card, but it is expected that it will be released a few days before the exam. This year more than 16 lakh students have applied for JEE Main 2026. More than 14 lakh students had participated in the January session itself, while lakhs of students have also registered for the April session.

What is the position of the seats?

The number of seats in big government engineering institutes of the country is limited. Overall, around 63,000 seats are available, which includes around 18,000 seats in IITs, around 24,500 seats in NITs, around 10,000 seats in IIITs and over 10,000 seats in other government institutes.
