National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued an important information for lakhs of students preparing for the Joint Entrance Examination i.e. JEE Main 2026. This advisory is especially for those candidates in whose application form a difference has been found between the photo uploaded and the identity card. NTA has made it clear that now some more time is being given to the candidates to resolve such issues, so that no student is deprived of the examination.

According to the information given by NTA, the last date of photo verification has been extended to January 15 for the candidates who have applied on the basis of any identity card other than Aadhar Card and in whose documents irregularities have been found. Earlier this time limit was less, but considering the problems of the students, the agency has given relief in it.

NTA has said that a special link has been sent to the registered email ID of the candidates whose documents have found discrepancies. Through this link, candidates will have to upload a certificate in PDF format. This certificate will be linked to their identity and photo. Along with this, NTA has also made it clear that on the day of examination, candidates will have to take the printed copy of this certificate with them to the examination centre. The officials present there will do physical verification of this certificate, so that there is no doubt about the identity of the candidate.

What did NTA say?

NTA says that this entire process is being adopted to maintain transparency and prevent fraud. The agency wants to ensure that only those candidates who have applied correctly are included in the examination. Therefore, students who have received information through email have been advised to upload the required documents within the stipulated time without any delay.

When will the exam be held?

At the same time, NTA has also shared important information regarding the JEE Main 2026 exam. According to the agency, JEE Main 2026 Session-1 examination will be conducted between January 21 and January 30. This examination will be conducted in computer-based mode at various examination centers across the country. City intimation slip will be issued to the candidates before the examination to inform them about their examination city. This slip will be made available on the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in, which candidates will be able to download with the help of their application number and password.

There is very important news for the students preparing for JEE exam. The registration date of session 1 is going to be announced very soon by the National Testing Agency (NTA). As soon as the date is announced, candidates will be able to apply online by visiting jeemain.nta.nic.in website. NTA has already released the exam dates for both the sessions of JEE Mains 2026.

The session 1 exam will be conducted between January 21 to January 30, 2026, while the session 2 exam will be held between April 1 to April 10, 2026. The examination can be conducted in two shifts – first shift from 9 am to 12 noon and second shift from 3 pm to 6 pm.

Who can take the exam

JEE Mains exam is one of the most prestigious engineering exams in the country. Through this, one can get admission in NIT, IIIT, CFTI and other recognized engineering colleges across the country. Besides, this examination is also the first condition for appearing in JEE Advanced conducted for admission in IIT.

There are two papers in this exam

Paper 1: For admission to BE/B.Tech course
Paper 2: For admission to B.Arch (Architecture) and B.Planning courses

• Then log in to your registered account.
• Fill the application form and upload all the required documents.

Why is JEE Mains exam special?

Every year lakhs of students appear in this examination. This exam not only opens the way for admission to engineering colleges but is also the first step to reach top institutions like IITs. Through Paper 1, students can get admission in BE or B.Tech, while through Paper 2, they get admission in Architecture and Planning courses.

The examination will be conducted in Computer Based Mode (CBT). In this, questions are asked from Physics, Chemistry and Maths. Each question has four options and there is negative marking for wrong answers.
