After the death of seven children after the roof collapsed in a government school in Jhalawar in Rajasthan, a report has revealed that 2,710 school buildings in the state need a large scale repair and a sum of Rs 254 crore allocated for it is pending for approval from the Finance Department.

According to the report of the State Education Department, 710 school buildings have been marked as a need for mass repair in 2024-25 financial year and Rs 79.24 crore has been fixed for their renewal.

However, the report states that most of the funds have not been approved by the Finance Department yet, which raises serious questions on administrative delay and budget execution.

The report has shown that 83 building structures in Jhalawar district were identified in the risk evaluation of 2024-25 and 2025-26 of the Education Department.

The public outrage on this tragedy continues, while the local administration is also criticizing the alleged evidence of demolition of the collapse of the collapse of the collapse in Piplodi.

Congress leader Pramod Jain Bhaya said that the way the Jhalawar district administration has hurry to demolish the building structure, he raises serious questions. This looks like an attempt to erase the evidence.

In many other districts, there have been incidents of wall collapse in dilapidated school buildings. Senior BJP leader and former cabinet minister Pratap Singh Singhvi criticized the delay of bureaucracy in taking action on identified buildings.

The difficulties of the Rajasthan government have increased due to the accident in the school in Jhalawar, Rajasthan. The National Human Rights Commission has sent a notice to the Bhajanlal government of the state on Saturday (July 26).

The NHRC said that it has issued a notice to the Rajasthan government and the Superintendent of Police of Jhalawar in view of the fall of a government school building in the district. Seven students died and many others were injured in this accident. NHRC has sought a detailed report in connection with the incident in two weeks.

Automatic cognizance taken on media news

The NHRC said in a statement that it has taken cognizance of the “media reports automatically that on July 25, seven children died and 28 others were injured when a government school building collapsed in Jhalawar district of Rajasthan.”

Notice sent to Chief Secretary-SP

The Commission has said that if the media report is correct then it raises a serious issue of human rights violations. The statement said, “Therefore, the court issued a notice to the Chief Secretary of the Government of Rajasthan and the Superintendent of Police of Jhalawar seeking a detailed report on the case within two weeks.”

‘Report has compensation details’

The Human Rights Commission said that the report is expected to include the health status of the injured students as well as the details of compensation given to the relatives of the deceased (if any).

7 children lost their lives in accident

Let me tell you that a part of the building of Piplodi Government School in Jhalawar district collapsed before praying in the morning, which killed seven children and injured more than 25, some of which are critical.

The condition of the school was already told

Allegedly, the local people had informed the district officials about the ‘dilapidated condition of the school building’, but no action was taken.
