The Congress party has become active in Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) to ensure stake in Bihar assembly elections in Jharkhand. Congress Jharkhand in -charge K.K. Raju said on Thursday that his party is making every effort to get JMM seats in Bihar. This step has been taken towards further strengthening the solidarity of the alliance.

Demand for JMM seats in Bihar

Of. Raju said, Congress party is trying to secure seats for JMM in Bihar’s upcoming assembly elections. It is our responsibility that JMM should get its rights as a partner of the coalition. We have started taking steps in this direction.

A party official said that JMM is preparing to contest 12 to 15 seats in Bihar. However, the final decision will be taken only after discussion with the alliance alliance colleagues. Elections for the 243 -seat assembly in Bihar are likely to be held in October or November.

Plan to strengthen the organization in Jharkhand

Of. Raju said that the Congress is working on strengthening its organization in Jharkhand. He said, “We have formed block-level committees. Now ward-level and gram panchayat committees will be formed in 49 urban local bodies of the state soon.” This will further strengthen the party’s base.

Fight for the rights of tribals

Of. Raju also emphasized on the issues of tribals. He said that the Congress will continue its fight demanding a separate Sarna Religious Code and the implementation of the Panchayat (Extension to Scheduled Areas) Act. He announced, “We will also perform for this at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.” This step is important towards ensuring the rights of the tribal community.

Question on voter list revision

Of. Raju also questioned the verification (SIR) of the voter list before the elections in Bihar. He criticized this process of Election Commission of India and said that it raises questions on time and process.
