What was the whole matter?

The incident happened during the innings of West Indies batsman John Campbell. A fast ball from Bumrah landed directly on Campbell’s pad in front of the stump. Bumrah was sure that the batsman was out LBW, but the on-field umpire gave him not out.

The umpire suspected that the ball might have hit the inner edge of the bat, so he ruled in favor of the batsman. Dissatisfied with this decision, Bumrah and captain Shubman Gill immediately appealed to DRS.

The third umpire watched the replays again and again

The third umpire watched the replay several times to check the decision. The ball was seen hitting the stump, but it was not clear whether the ball had touched the bat before the pad or not. Due to technical limitations and lack of clear evidence, the third umpire gave the “benefit of doubt” to the batsman. The result was that the on-field umpire’s decision was upheld and Campbell was not given out.

Bumrah angry at the decision
