Japan railway: For the first time after the Second World War, Japan is leading to an aggressive and technological change in its defense policy. Recently, Japan successfully performed the electromagnetic railway on its Navy test ship JS Asuka. This test is not only necessary from the technical point of view, but can also change the strategic status of the Asia-Pacific region.

The rail gun is an electromagnetic weapon system that does not use explosives like traditional cannons, but rather stains the projectile at high speed through electromagnetic force. Its speed is 2,500 m/second (≈ 5,600 mi/h). Projectal weight is 320 grams. Its speed is 6.5 times more than the sound. The length is 20 feet and weight is close to 8 tons. This system can also target hypersonic missiles and fast flying fighters.

Why is this a matter of concern for China and North Korea?

As soon as Japan tested the traingun, the concern of China and North Korea increased. The reason for this is that this weapon is much faster, accurate and impressive than the traditional defense system. According to experts, this technology of Japan can become a major threat to China’s hypersonic missile capabilities. A former Chinese army trainer described this weapon as an “starting strategy”. He warned that this move of Japan can also increase strategic tension for the rest of Asia’s countries.

America also started projects

Japan started work on this technology in 2016. The US also started work on this project, but left it in the middle in 2021. China too has not got success in it till now and it is still working on it. Therefore, this success of Japan can give him a decisive lead in the race for global military technology.
