Steel Stocks Surge: On December 31, the last trading session of the year 2025, there is a tremendous rise in the shares of steel companies. During the trading day, shares of companies like JSW Steel, Tata Steel and Jindal Steel have jumped by 2 to 5 percent.

Condition of shares of JSW Steel, Tata Steel and Jindal

There is a tremendous rise in the shares of JSW Steel Company on Wednesday’s trading day. It was trading at Rs 1165.50 on BSE at around 11:20 am with a gain of 4.84 per cent or Rs 53.85. Tata Steel shares were registering a rise of 2.42 percent and were trading at Rs 180.

At the same time, shares of Jindal Steel also jumped. A rise of 3.45 percent or Rs 35.20 was being recorded in the shares and the company shares were trading at Rs 1056.20.

Safeguard duty decided on steel imports

According to market experts, the government has decided to impose safeguard duty with the aim of protecting the domestic steel industry from losses and reducing low quality steel imports. The government has taken a big step regarding the import of non-alloy and alloy flat steel.

According to the government’s decision, safeguard duty will be imposed at 12 percent in the first year, 11.5 percent in the second year and 11 percent in the third year. This duty will be especially applicable on steel imports coming from China, Vietnam and Nepal. However, specialty steel products like stainless steel have been kept out of this duty.

In 2005, Jindal Vijayanagar Steel was merged by JLW Steel at 1:16 ratio. This means that 16 new shares of JSW got on each stock. Similarly, in 2017, another gift was given by the company and the investor got 10 on each stock. From this fold, the shares which were earlier a few hundred, now their price has been worth lakhs of rupees. That is, the price of those shares has been done in total of Rs 80 crore.

JSW shares have given investors a great return of about 10 percent during the last one year.
