Jugal Hansraj revealed in a conversation with Pinkvilla that Shabana Azmi used to maintain distance from him during the shooting of Masoom. She was very friendly with Urmila Matondkar and Aradhana. Jugal said, “Shabana ji used to talk a lot with both the girls because she was their mother in the film. Whereas she used to keep a distance from me. She used to ignore me.’

Jugal Hansraj further said that he was so innocent that he could not understand why she did this to him. He said, “Later I found out that this was a part of Shabana ji’s process. She did not want us to come close because the coldness that was there should have been visible on the screen. Everyone should have felt that there was a discomfort between me and my mother, so she did it very beautifully.

The actor told that this also happened with some films which he was going to direct. He further said, ‘When I was young, my heart was broken because of this. But I couldn’t be angry because no one was doing this intentionally. The situation was out of control. Then what can you do? You just move on.’

Jugal further said- ‘My support system was very strong. My family consisted of my parents and my elder brother. Now I only have my elder brother, but he still supports me constantly! I also had some friends who always encouraged me. So if you have a good support system and some understanding, then it is okay, otherwise it can affect you.
