Effects of Poor Diet on Gut Health: Due to today’s changing lifestyle, people’s health is getting worse than before. Problems ranging from cancer to kidney failure have increased rapidly. Now a study funded by ICMR has also come to light, according to this study, hidden nutritional deficiencies were found in about 40 percent of Indian girls aged 18 to 40 years. These include early metabolic risks like anemia, vitamin deficiency and insulin resistance. The surprising thing is that according to BMI, these women look completely fit, hence the problem remains undetected for a long time.

What do researchers say?

The researcher says that if these shortcomings are not taken care of in time, it can have a serious impact on women’s health, fertility and overall well-being in the future. Girls between the age of 18 to 40 years start their day without having proper breakfast. Sometimes just tea, sometimes packaged drink and biscuits. Dr. explains that by skipping breakfast, the body does not get the necessary energy and metabolism slows down, which leads to acidity and focus problems.

By noon, she feels hungry and eats fried or processed food like chips, samosas or sweet things available from the school canteen. These foods look simple, but they contain very little fiber and nutrients. Eating like this continuously increases the problem of irritation in the stomach lining, gas and bloating. Lunch was often either skipped or replaced with instant noodles, burgers or pizza. Vegetables, pulses, fruits and whole grains are almost missing from his plate. These habits start causing problems later on.

evening diet

The craving for sweet drinks, bakery items or street food increases in the evening. Regarding this, doctors warn that excess sugar and flour increases the blood sugar rapidly, due to which the risk of obesity, insulin resistance and fatty liver increases at an early age. Dinner, which should ideally be light, is often heavy and fried late at night, leading to acid reflux and sleep problems.

Why is nutrition important at the age of 20–30?

In today’s busy life, people between 20 and 30 years of age often ignore their diet. Whereas this time lays the foundation for future health, metabolism and hormone balance. According to Dr. Sushma, nutrition expert of Delhi-based Dietkalp Nutrition Centre, the day should start with a good breakfast within an hour of waking up. The combination of protein and complex carbs keeps blood sugar stable and the brain active. She says that drinking only coffee on an empty stomach has become common among girls. This can cause nervousness, rapid heartbeat, acidity and feeling tired throughout the day. Taking protein, vegetables and whole grains instead of processed food in lunch is beneficial for gut health. At the same time, if evening snacks are light but nutritious then overeating can be avoided. Dinner should always be lighter than lunch and 2 to 3 hours before bedtime. Light food not only improves digestion but also improves the quality of sleep.

Colon cancer prevention: Colon cancer ie colorectal cancer was earlier considered the disease of most elderly. But now it is increasing rapidly among the youth as well. The colon is part of our large intestine and cancer often starts with small polyps. Many research shows that nowadays people under 50 years of age are also falling victim to this disease in large numbers. The biggest reason for this is our food and lifestyle. Obesity, alcohol, oily food and junk food are increasing its risk. However, the good thing is that this disease can be avoided by changing the right diet and some habits. Let’s know those 7 food which is necessary to reduce or stop and what can be eaten in their place.

1. Red meat
Excess intake of red meat like beef, pork and lamb increases the risk of colon cancer. Especially when it is frying, barbecue or grilling on very high heat, it produces harmful elements that damage the intestine cells.
What to eat instead– Select protein sources like fish, chicken, pulses and Rajma. If you have to eat red meat, then boil or bake in small amounts and eat.

2. Processed Meat
Nitrates and preservatives are added to things like Bacon, Sausage, Ham and Hot Dog. WHO has considered them cancer foods.
What to eat instead– Use fresh chicken, fish or cheese. Add herbs and spices to taste.

3. Sweet drinks and refined carbs
Soda, packed juice and sweet tea-coffee contain too much sugar. Also, white bread and flour things also increase the sugar level in the body. Obesity and insulin resistance increase the risk of cancer.

What to eat instead– Drink detox water made of water, lemonade, green tea or fruits. Eat wheat, oats and brown rice instead of bread.

4. Junk and processed food
Packed snacks, burgers, pizza and fried food contain more oil, salt and chemical. They do not contain fiber and they increase inflammation in the body.
What to eat instead-Homemade food, salad, dal-rice, vegetable-bread. For snacks, you can eat roasted gram, makhana or popcorn.

5. More alcohol
Excessive consumption of alcohol damages DNA and increases the risk of colon cancer.
What to drink instead of this- Herbal tea, coconut water, flavor sparkling water or seasonal juice.

6. More fat and full-fat dairy
The fried food, butter, ghee and full cream increase the risk of saturated fat cancer present in milk.
What to eat instead Low-fat milk, yogurt or sleeping and almond milk. Eat olive oil, avocado and nuts for fat.

7. More salt and packed food
Things like pickles, chips and canned soup contain more salt and chemical. They can damage the layer of the intestine.
What to eat instead– Use lemon, herbs and spices to enhance the taste of food. Drink fresh vegetables and homemade soup.

Colon cancer is rapidly affecting the youth. But the good thing is that this danger can be reduced to a great extent by changing the diet and choosing a healthy option. Small habits such as junk food instead of household food, food instead of sweet drinks and processed meat, eating pulses and vegetables can keep the intestine healthy for a long time.
