Justice M. Bela Trivedi said on Tuesday (April 1, 2025) that expressing displeasure over the absence of the lawyer said that the work is done in the district courts and High Court better than the Supreme Court. Justice M. Bela Trivedi was hearing a petition filed against a decision by the Madras High Court. Advocate on Record (AOR) P Soma Sundaram did not appear on March 28, which the court was very angry about.

According to the report of the Bar and Bench, Soma Sundaram was not present in the last hearing and Advocate R. Nidumaran told the court on his behalf that AOR is out of Delhi and going to Tamil Nadu. That day the court had postponed the hearing till 2 pm and asked AOR to appear virtually. However, Soma Sundaram Virchuly did not appear and Advocate R Needkaran said that he is in the remote area, due to which he is not being able to contact him on the phone, so he will not be able to appear virtually.

The court then directed AOR that he should appear with a Tamil Nadu ticket as a proof. During the hearing on 1 April, the court told AOR, ‘If you are challenging the decision, should you not read the papers. Where is the scope of an explanation? On this, as soon as AOR addressed the bench as’ My Learned Friend ‘, the court interrupted him and said,’ Donant from Lend Friend. We are upset and unhappy too. We are watching all this day and night. First apologize for the delay. Then in the apology application… what kind of language is this.

AOR told the court that if someone else has filed the petition, Justice Bela Trivedi said- ‘So what? Whether you have signs on this. AOR agreed to this. The court angrily said to him, ‘We will have to read the paper because you are busy and we are empty. Does the Supreme Court work like this? I have come from a district court. I have not seen such an atmosphere there. High courts and district courts work better than the Supreme Court. This is not a small thing. A common man is looking towards the Supreme Court. We will not accept your apology. It will be transported to logical and legal results.

The AOR addressed the judges as ‘My Learnand Friend’ while filing an apology application for not being able to appear in the last hearing, on which the judge put a lot of classes and said what kind of language it is.

The court was already angry because the Advocate on Record (AOR) was not present in the court. When AOR addressed this way, the court said- I to It.

According to the report of the Bar and Bench, Justice M. Bella Trivedi and Justice Satish Chandra Sharma were hearing the case. Advocate on records are those lawyers who have the right to file a case in the Supreme Court and AOR examination is conducted for them. AOR P Soma Sundaram had filed a petition against the Madras High Court’s decision in a criminal case, but during the hearing on March 28, he neither reached the court nor appeared virtuous.

In the last hearing, Advocate R Needkaran told the court that AOR is not in Delhi, he has gone to a village in Tamil Nadu, due to which he could not even appear virtually, after which the court postponed the hearing for April 1. The court had asked Soma Sundaram to appear at the next hearing and also directed that he would also bring the proof, which proves that he was in Tamil Nadu.

During the hearing on 1 April, Justice M Bella Trivedi told AOR Soma Sundaram, ‘You are challenging the decision of the Madras High Court. You should not file special leave petition, if you do not know about it, you should not be Aor. We cannot leave the case like this, you are taking unfair advantage. On this, AOR said that he takes responsibility. The court told them that you will have to do this because they have no other option nor will it work with forgiveness.

During the hearing, the AOR addressed the court as My Learned Friend, and Justice Bella Trivedi was enraged and said, ‘First you people apologize for the delay. Then forgiveness in Adevan … what is this language?
