Annoyed by this, Chief Justice BR Gavai said, ‘He is not your friend. Do not forget that he is still an honorable judge of the High Court. His name cannot be taken in this way.

Advocate Mathews Nedumpra had earlier filed a petition for an FIR against Justice Verma 2 times. For the first time, the Supreme Court said that the Chief Justice has formed an in -house committee of 3 judges for investigation. Then for the second time he said that the report of the committee has been sent to the President and the Prime Minister.

Request for early hearing from Chief Justice BR Gawai

Nedumpra, who reached the Supreme Court for the third time, requested Chief Justice BR Gavai to hear soon. Nedumpra said, ‘Verma himself has created such a situation that FIR is necessary.’ Chief Justice BR Gawai was enraged at this.

He said, ‘How are you addressing them? He is still Justice Verma. On this, Nedumpra said that in his eyes, Justice Verma is not worthy of such respect. The Chief Justice refused to put the case immediately and said, “Do not teach the court right and wrong.”

Petition filed in Supreme Court

It was said in that decision that the consent of the Chief Justice of India before the FIR against the High Court or Supreme Court judge is necessary. The petitioners have said that only the President and the governors have been exempted from the trial in the constitution. ‘Treatment should be done like ordinary citizens with judges’

It has been said in the petition that the FIR should have been lodged immediately after receiving the burnt cash in the judge’s house on March 14 and the arrest should have been made but now the case has been handed over to the judges’ investigation committee, which is not correct. Just as an FIR is registered against common citizens in a criminal case, it should be done in this case as well. The Supreme Court cancels the comments made in the Veeraswami verdict of 1991 and register a case to the investigating agencies and ask them to investigate.

The petition claimed that due to giving separate status to the judges, he has survived the FIR even in serious cases like Poxo. These petitioners associated with an organization called National Liars Campaign for Judicial Transparency and Reforms have reminded that Judicial Standards and Accountability Bill was introduced in Parliament in 2010 to investigate the corruption of judges and other wrong conduct, but that law could not be made.

Justice Verma transferred to Allahabad High Court

A big revelation was revealed by a fire in the residential bungalow of Justice Yashwant Verma of Delhi High Court. A large quantity of cash was allegedly recovered from his house. Justice Yashwant Verma Case: On the instructions of India Chief Justice (CJI) Sanjeev Khanna, Chief Justice of Delhi High Court Justice DK Upadhyay wrote a letter to the Delhi Police Commissioner, asking Justice Yashwant Verma’s call record from 1 September 2024 to 22 March 2025 and asked for IPDR (Internet Protocol Detail record). It is achieved that it will be shared with the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

On March 21, after submitting a report on the Justice Verma case to the Chief Justice of Delhi High Court, CJI Sanjeev Khanna wrote a letter to the Delhi High Court saying that he asked the mobile service providers to ask for details of the call records of the official and other mobile numbers of Justice Verma. Along with this, he also instructed to gather information of the registry staff, private security officers and security guards posted at Justice Verma’s residence in the last six months.

What are call records and IPDR?

Call records and IPDRs play an important role in monitoring a person’s digital activity. The call record shows when, when, whom and how long a person interacted. At the same time, it is available through IPDR, which websites and applications were used from mobile phones. How much and when the Internet was used and whether any VPN was used. Although the IPDR does not contain end-to-end encrypted data, which shows that Google or WhatsApp was used, but what was searched or chatted there cannot be known.

Investigation agencies can find out on the basis of IPDR records that Justice Verma used which websites and online services in the last six months. Apart from this, it can also be checked whether they had contact with any suspicious number.
