On the occasion of the 200th birth anniversary of social reformer Jyotiba Rao Phule, the rhetoric in Rajasthan politics has intensified. In Jaipur, former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has directly targeted the current Bhajanlal Sharma government of the state.

Gehlot said that Mahatma Phule worked his whole life to eliminate discrimination from the society. But today’s government is working against the same sentiment. He alleges that the BJP government is adopting policies that increase differences instead of equality in the society.

Displeasure over closure of schemes

The former CM also said that many public welfare schemes started during his government have been closed by the present government. According to Gehlot, these schemes were very important for the common people and closing them is against the public interest.

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said that the PM himself had earlier praised these schemes. He also said that these schemes will be continued even after the change of government. In such a situation, the Prime Minister should now intervene in this matter.

Former CM Ashok Gehlot said that just giving a speech on Phule Jayanti is not enough. Real respect will come when his ideas are implemented on the ground. He alleged that the present government is proving unsuccessful in doing this.

Allegation of increasing gap between rich and poor

Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also accused the BJP government that the gap between the rich and the poor is increasing under its rule, which is completely contrary to the thinking of Mahatma Phule. He appealed to the government to restart the schemes that had been closed in the public interest. So that common people can get benefits.
