The festival of Navratri is considered very sacred in Hinduism, which lasts for 9 days. During this time 9 different forms of Maa Durga are worshiped. This year, Sharadiya Navratri will start from 22 September and run till 1 October 2025 and Maa Durga will be immersed on 2 October.

Navratri begins with the establishment or Ghatasthapana, the Kalash. There will be two auspicious times for the establishment of Kalash this year. The first Muhurta was from 06:10 to 08:06 in the morning. The second Abhijeet Muhurta will be from 11:50 to 12:39 in the afternoon.

On the first day of Navratri, it is considered very auspicious to do Ghatasthapana or Kalash installation. Some rules have also been mentioned in the scriptures for the establishment of the urn, which must be followed. Mother Durga may be angry with mistake in the establishment of Kalash.

The urn you are using for the installation of Kalash should be clean from all over. If the urn is of soil then it is considered the best. But do not use steel or plastic urn in worship. Also, do not use fragmented urn.

Clean the place to install the urn. According to Vastu, it is auspicious to establish the urn in the northeast angle. Once you established the Kalash at the place where you established. Let the urn remain stable there for a full 9 days. Removing or shaking the urn in the middle is inauspicious.

In the houses where the urn is established, cleanliness should also be taken care of. From the establishment of the urn to the immersion of Maa Durga, do not cook garlic-onion or non-vegetarian food at home and keep the atmosphere pure.
