Mendis was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 75 lakh in the auction. This was his debut season, in which he played a total of 5 matches. Mendis scored 92 runs and took 2 wickets. However, last year’s runner-up Sunrisers Hyderabad was the third team to be out first.

In IPL season 18, the Orange Cap and Purple Cap were won by both Gujarat Titans players. Sai Sudarshan got Orange and the famous Krishna got the purple cap, both got Rs 10-10 as a prize money. Sudarshan became the emerging player of this year, with this he also got 10 lakh rupees separately.
