Sawan Kanwar Yatra 2025: The month of Sawan has special significance for Shiva devotees. This month becomes important for devotion, worship and fast etc. of Shiva. Also, there is also a Kanwar Yatra in this month, which everyone is eagerly waiting for.

During the Kavad Yatra, the Kawandiyas reach the Shiva temple and the pagoda, chanting the slogan of Har-Har Mahadev and Bomb-Bomb Bhole. In the Kandar Yatra, Shiva devotees take the holy Ganga water of pilgrims like Haridwar and Gangotri on the Shivling. It is believed that Kavad Yatra was first started by Lord Parashurama, the supreme devotee of Shiva. Since then, offering water to Lord Shiva and offering water to Kavad became a symbol of faith, reverence and loyalty.

When will the Kandar Yatra start 2025 (Sawan Kanwar Yatra 2025 Start Date)

• If you start the Kandar Yatra once, then do not keep the Kavad (Kalash water) anywhere on the way. Especially avoid keeping Kavad in the ground. This is considered incomplete your journey. If you accidentally put kanvad on the ground anywhere, then you have to start the journey by filling water again.
• During the journey, whenever you abandon the stool and urine, touch the kanvad only after bathing. Kanwar should not be taken again without bathing.
• During the Kavad Yatra, the Kanwari should not touch any such thing which is made of leather.

What do Kavadis do in Kavad Yatra?

Kavad Yatra is a sacred journey dedicated to Lord Shiva. Devotees who do this journey are called ‘Kanwariya’. During the yatra, pilgrims or devotees fill the river water from holy places like Haridwar, Rishikesh, Gomukh, Sultanganj and start several kilometers long posts (foot) journey and are transported to the destination (Shiva temple or pagoda). Shivalinga is anointed with this holy water.
