Karnataka News: On Friday (March 21, 2025), 48 leaders in Karnataka saw a huge uproar in the assembly after allegations of honey trap. After this, the BJP MLA entered the Well in the assembly. After this, he tossed the paper on the speaker’s chair, whose marshal took the front. The Karnataka Legislative Assembly passed a bill to suspend 18 BJP MLAs for six months to obstruct the assembly proceedings. The Bill was given the Bill Minister of Law and Parliamentary Affairs H.K. Patil introduced.

BJP MLAs were dropped from assembly

After this, these BJP MLAs were taken out of the assembly. A video has surfaced on social media, in which Marshall is seen hanging the BJP MLA out on his shoulders. On the suspension of 18 BJP MLAs from the House, MB Patil, a minister in the Karnataka government, said, “It is completely inappropriate for the members to behave in this way. They committed all possible violations in the assembly. This (suspension) is 100% appropriate.”

According to the report of news agency PTI, 18 BJP MLAs suspended include Doddnagauda Patil, Ashwath Narayan, Munitna. The bill giving 4 percent reservation to minorities in government contracts was passed in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly.

Uproar over the issue of honey trap in the assembly

KN Rajanna, a minister in the Karnataka government, had said in the House on Thursday (20 March 2025) that at least 48 leaders, including central leaders, were trapped in Honey Trap. He insisted that this issue is not limited to any one party. After this, on Friday i.e. Friday, BJP MLAs created a ruckus in the House, because some Congress MLAs were claiming a CD in their hands that they have evidence of the honey track.

Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly R Ashok said, “This is not a matter of any party. It is a big conspiracy against the MLAs working for the public. Some people are doing this (honey trap) for their agenda.” CM Siddaramaiah defended his government and said, “There is no question of saving anyone in the Honey Trap case.
Karnataka MLA salary hike: The state government is going to introduce a bill in the assembly soon to increase salary from CM to MLAs in Karnataka. After the passage of this bill, the salary of all the public representatives of Karnataka Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council will double. The interesting fact here is that Karnataka is already on top of the list of rich MLAs. A total of 31 MLAs are billionaires here. The total assets of the MLAs of Karnataka are 14,179 crore, so it is also at the forefront of the total assets of MLAs of other states.

The Karnataka Assembly has 224 seats, as well as a nominated member. In this way there are 225 MLAs here. According to the report of the Association of Democratic Reform (ADR), the assets of 31 MLAs in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly are more than 100-100 crores. The most property is with Deputy CM DK Shivkumar. He has assets worth 1413 crores. DK Shivkumar is second in the list of rich MLAs of India.

According to the report of the ADR, Andhra Pradesh is second and Maharashtra is third in the list of billionaire MLAs. There are 27 MLAs in Andhra Pradesh and 18 in Maharashtra.

Four MLAs from Karnataka in the top-10
Among the 10 richest MLAs of the country, 4 MLAs from Karnataka are included. In this, the name of 4 MLAs of Andhra Pradesh also comes. A total of 119 MLAs in India have a property of more than 100 crores. It has 63% i.e. 76 MLAs from just three states. These three states are Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.

Average assets also at second place
Talking about the average assets of MLAs, Karnataka’s name comes second. Karnataka has an average of 63.5 crore per MLA. At the same time, the average assets of MLAs in Andhra Pradesh are 65 crores. Overall, it can be said that in the case of rich MLAs, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh are running shoulder to shoulder.
