The political turmoil in Janata Dal United (JDU) intensified when senior party leader KC Tyagi wrote a letter to the Prime Minister demanding to give Bharat Ratna to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. After this statement, JDU leadership clearly distanced itself from Tyagi and termed it as his personal statement.

On behalf of JDU, national spokesperson Rajeev Ranjan took a strong stand and said that KC Tyagi’s recent statements do not match the ideology and official stand of the party.

He even said that “It is not clear even to our workers whether KC Tyagi is with JDU or not.” The letter written regarding Bharat Ratna is completely a personal matter of Tyagi.

Internal resentment in JDU, indications for action

According to sources, there is dissatisfaction in the party regarding the statements of KC Tyagi for some time. It is being said that the leadership is considering disciplinary action against him. The party believes that Tyagi is continuously giving such statements, which are different from the line of JDU and NDA.

RJD’s counterattack- Bharat Ratna goes to Lalu Yadav

Rashtriya Janata Dal spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari has given a sharp reaction on this entire controversy. He said that JDU has divided into two and some people within the party do not want Nitish Kumar to get Bharat Ratna. Tiwari claimed that if anyone should get Bharat Ratna, it is RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav.

Even before, Tyagi has been speaking out of line with NDA.

Even before this, KC Tyagi has been seen to have different opinions from NDA on many issues. When Bangladeshi cricketer Mustafizur Rahman was thrown out of IPL, he had said that sports should be kept away from politics. Apart from this, his statements on issues like Uniform Civil Code, lateral entry in government jobs and Israel-Palestine conflict have also been different from the party line.

Now the question is whether JDU leadership takes any concrete action against KC Tyagi or not. For now, the party has distanced itself from his statement and given a clear message that those who speak out of line with the organization will not be spared.
