kerosene oil: Today is the 32nd day of ongoing tension in the Middle East. Due to this, concerns regarding energy supply are deepening. Amidst this energy crisis, the government has decided to provide relief to the general public.

In fact, on Monday, March 30, the Central Government announced that the availability of kerosene (kerosene) will start again at ration shops and some selected petrol pumps in 21 states and union territories including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat. This decision has been taken in view of the constraints in energy and LPG supply at the global level.

Which states got approval?

The 21 states which have got permission to sell kerosene include about 13 states – Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, UP, MP, Uttarakhand, Himachal, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Gujarat, Sikkim and Nagaland. Apart from these, the Union Territories include names like Delhi, Chandigarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Puducherry, Lakshadweep, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

When will kerosene oil be available at ration shops?

The government has currently started this scheme for 60 days, which will start from March 29 and will be valid till further orders. Under this, oil will be given to consumers at reasonable rates at ration shops. Apart from this, a maximum of two petro pumps will also be identified in every district, which will be allowed to sell kerosene. Maximum 5000 liters of kerosene will be allowed to be kept in stock at these petrol pumps.

The Center has also allocated an additional 48,000 kiloliters of Superior Kerosene Oil (SKO) to the states in addition to their regular quota. The amount of kerosene oil per family will be decided on the ration card by the state governments on the basis of local stock and demand.

However, for this the government has set some rules such as kerosene oil can be used only for cooking and lighting. It is not allowed to be used for industrial and commercial purposes.

Earlier, under PDS, the supply of kerosene was stopped in different states at different time limits. Now its use has been allowed again for needs like cooking and lighting. The Petroleum Ministry issued a statement saying that several steps are being taken to ensure that the energy supply in the country continues without interruption. In the current situation, the government is fully alert and is making all necessary arrangements so that the public does not face energy related problems.
