Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court has issued a notice to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and sought his reply. This case is related to his alleged inflammatory speech given in an election rally during the Karnataka Assembly elections in the year 2023. The court has fixed February 27 for the next hearing of this case.

A person named Ravindra Gupta has filed an application in the court.

The allegation against Kharge is that he had made objectionable and inflammatory comments about RSS and Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the election campaign in Karnataka. Ravindra Gupta had filed a complaint regarding this. However, in November 2024, Tis Hazari Court of Delhi had refused to take cognizance of this complaint and rejected the petition.

Dissatisfied with this decision of Tis Hazari Court, petitioner Ravindra Gupta challenged it in the Sessions Court of Rouse Avenue Court. The petitioner said that Kharge’s speech was not only objectionable, but there was also a possibility of spreading hatred in the society. Therefore, legal action is necessary on this.

Rouse Avenue Court said- it is necessary to listen to all the parties

Rouse Avenue Court, after the preliminary hearing on the petition, issued notice to Mallikarjun Kharge and asked him to present his side. The court says that it is necessary to hear all the parties in the case so that it can be decided whether a criminal case is actually made out or not.

Tis Hazari Court had rejected the petition on 16 November

On November 16 last year, Tis Hazari Court had rejected the complaint filed against Mallikarjun Kharge. The court refused to take cognizance of the complaint and rejected it. The complaint alleged that Kharge had allegedly given an inflammatory speech during an election rally in Naregal, Karnataka in April 2023. During this, he also made derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In fact, this matter also came to light in December 2024, when the court had refused to give instructions to register an FIR against Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.
