Kidney Disease Warning Signs: Often people associate kidney disease with fatigue, swelling in the legs...

Kidney Disease Warning Signs: Often people associate kidney disease with fatigue, swelling in the legs or changes in urine, but sometimes it starts with the eyes. The reason is that both kidneys and eyes depend on the small nerves and fluid balance of the body. When the kidneys do not function properly, its effects start appearing on the eyes as well. Persistent swelling, cloudiness, redness, irritation or change in color vision in the eyes. All these signs can point towards a deeper problem. These changes are very mild initially, but may increase with time. If these symptoms appear along with fatigue or swelling, it is important to get both the kidneys and eyes checked. Let us tell you about it in detail.

Kidney disease first shows its effects in the eyes.

Most people believe that kidney disease is detected only by fatigue, swelling or urine change, but the reality is that its initial signs can also be seen in the eyes. According to the National Kidney Foundation, the kidneys are the body’s filter system and the eyes rest on very delicate blood vessels. As soon as the kidneys affect the fluid balance or blood vessels, changes are immediately visible in the eyes. As kidney problems increase, vision, eye moisture, eye nerves and even the ability to recognize colors can be affected. Many times these symptoms resemble any common eye disease, due to which there is delay in identifying the real problem. If ignored, these symptoms increase. Know here those five eye-related symptoms, which if taken lightly can turn serious:

persistent swelling in the eyes

Sometimes the eyes become swollen due to waking up late at night or eating too much salt, but if the swelling persists throughout the day then it can be a sign of protein leaking in the kidneys. When the kidneys are unable to filter the protein, the same protein starts coming out of the body in the urine and its effect is seen in the form of swelling around the eyes. If urine appears frothy or foamy along with swelling, get it checked by a doctor immediately.

blurred or double vision

Sudden blurring of vision or double vision can be a sign of damage to the small nerves of the retina. High BP and diabetes, the two biggest causes of kidney failure, also damage the nerves of the retina. Fluid accumulation, swelling of the retina, or in severe cases, vision loss may also occur. If you are a diabetic or BP patient and feel your vision has changed, then it is also important to check your kidney function.

dryness, irritation, or roughness in the eyes

Frequent dry eyes or stinging sensation is not just the effect of weather or screen time. Dry eyes are a common complaint in patients with advanced kidney disease or undergoing dialysis. Calcium-phosphorus imbalance, or accumulation of toxins in the body leads to reduced tear production. If the eyes remain red, dry or stinging without any reason, then it is necessary to get a kidney test done.

Chronic Kidney Disease: Chronic kidney disease is gradually becoming a major health crisis in front...

Chronic Kidney Disease: Chronic kidney disease is gradually becoming a major health crisis in front of the world. A new global study published in The Lancet has been prepared by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation. It is seen in this report that in 2023, CKD has become the ninth largest cause of death in the world. Last year alone, this disease took the lives of about 15 lakh people.

Not only this, the report states that today 788 million (78.8 crore) adults around the world are suffering from some level of kidney disease, which is double as compared to 1990. This directly shows that CKD is a silent disease which is spreading rapidly in every country, rich and poor. Its rate is highest especially in areas like North Africa, Middle East and South Asia. And the matter is not limited to kidneys only. This disease also has a deep impact on the heart. The report states that poor kidney function is responsible for 11.5 percent of cardiovascular deaths worldwide. That is, if put in simple words, CKD increases heart diseases manifold.

What was the most important finding in the report?

According to the latest global analysis, CKD will be included in the top-10 causes of deaths in 2023. Approximately 1.48 million deaths occurred due to this. Today about 800 million people around the world are living with more or less kidney function loss. From 378 million cases in 1990, this number has reached 788 million today, that is, more than double. Kidney related problems are found in more than 1 out of every 10 adults in the world.

Most affected areas

Come in North Africa and Middle East (highest prevalence) areas. About 16 percent of adults in South Asia are affected by it. The number is largest in China and India, about 152 million people in China and about 138 million people in India are affected by CKD.

After all, why is kidney disease increasing so much?

If we talk about why its cases are continuously increasing, then three big reasons are clearly visible, in which-

metabolic diseases

In this, the name of metabolic disease comes at number one. Diabetes, high BP and obesity are the biggest causes of CKD. These gradually damage the delicate filters of the kidneys.

increase in elderly population

The issue of elderly population comes second. This is because the filtering capacity of the kidneys decreases with increasing age, hence cases of CKD are more common in older countries.

Lack of diagnosis and treatment

In many countries, early testing is not easily available. People find out only when the disease has progressed too far.

Why should we pay attention to this?

Your kidneys silently remove toxins from your body every day, maintain water-salt balance and control blood pressure. The problem is that CKD does not give any specific symptoms in the initial stage and that is why it is called a silent killer. Weak kidneys have a bad effect on the heart. Blood pressure increases, waste accumulates in the body, and pressure on the heart increases. This is the reason why kidney failure is increasing heart deaths across the world.

Early signs not to be ignored

Changes in urine – too much or too little urine, waking up frequently at night, foamy or bloody urine

Swelling – swelling in the legs, arms or under the eyes

Fatigue and weakness – Accumulation of dirt in the body increases fatigue.

Itching, dry skin, nausea – due to increase in waste in the blood

Shortness of breath, loss of appetite – these symptoms appear as the disease progresses.

If any of these signs are seen, do not dismiss it as fatigue or age, get it checked.

What can you do?

Regular checkups – GFR and Urine Albumin tests can detect early CKD

Control risk factors – keep blood sugar, BP, weight under control

Change lifestyle – less salt, adequate water, stay away from smoking

Kidney is one of the most important parts of our body which works to filter the blood and remove waste material. When the kidneys do not function properly then waste starts accumulating in the body. Its initial symptoms include fatigue, weakness, swelling of the face and legs, foam or blood in the urine, loss of appetite and frequent urination at night.

This disease progresses slowly, hence timely identification is very important. Diabetes and high blood pressure are considered to be the biggest reasons for this. In such a situation, let us tell you today why problems like frequent itching on the skin should not be ignored.

Why do signs of kidney disease appear on the skin?

When there is kidney damage, its effects first start appearing on the skin. Changes in the skin indicate some serious problem hidden inside the body. Many times people consider problems like dryness, rashes, difference in color to be the fault of weather or skin care, whereas it can be an early sign of kidney failure.

Common skin signs of kidney disease

Dry and itchy skin- According to the National Kidney Foundation of America, the work of the kidney is not only to remove waste from the body but also to make red blood cells, strengthen bones and maintain the balance of minerals. At the same time, in the advanced stage of kidney, the balance of minerals gets disturbed, due to which the skin becomes very dry and itchy. In many cases it can also be a sign of mineral and bone disease. Due to which the body is not able to control the minerals and the effect is visible on the skin.

Swelling on the skin- When the kidneys are unable to remove waste and extra liquid, fluid starts accumulating in the body. Its effect is first visible in the form of swelling in the face, around the eyes, feet, ankles and hands. This is a common and serious sign of kidney damage, which should not be ignored.

Change in skin color- In kidney failure, toxins start accumulating in the body, due to which the color of the skin and eyes starts appearing yellow or faded. Anemia is also a common symptom associated with kidney disease, due to which the skin may turn yellow. If this continues for a long time, it can be a sign of serious kidney infection and damage.

Wounds, rashes and persistent itching- In case of kidney failure, there is severe itching in the entire body. This itching troubles us day and night because the skin becomes very dry due to kidney failure. According to some nephrologists, this itching may increase due to increase in phosphorus in the body. Due to continuous scratching, wounds, scars, thickened skin or itchy lumps can also form on the skin. To avoid this, it is very important to moisturize the skin regularly and control the amount of phosphorus.

Why should skin symptoms not be ignored?

Many times these changes visible on the screen are the first and most obvious symptoms of kidney disease. The American Academy of Dermatology says that dry skin, persistent itching and changes in skin color are often seen in patients who may need dialysis or kidney transplant. Therefore, any kind of skin problem should not be taken lightly and kidneys can be saved by timely examination.

kidney disease prevalence India: There is often no accurate data available on how big the burden of kidney disease is, especially in countries like India where the challenges of communicable diseases already exist. But global estimates suggest that around 800 to 850 million people worldwide, i.e. 80 crore to 85 crore people, are affected by some form of kidney disease.

According to DailyRounds, the picture in India is equally worrying. Here 1 out of every 10 Indians is considered to be affected by kidney disease. Not only this, about 5 lakh people need serious treatment like dialysis. Kidney disease is considered to be the eighth biggest cause of death in India. According to a recent report published in Lancet, about 13.8 crore people in India are suffering from chronic kidney disease. Let us tell you how many people are suffering from this disease in the neighboring countries of India.

What is the condition of India’s neighboring countries?

According to a systematic review and meta-analysis conducted by Shrestha et al., 2021 (Frontiers in Medicine), the burden of CKD in the major South Asian countries India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Nepal is shocking. Countries adjacent to India are also suffering from this problem. In Bangladesh, CKD has been found to be around 14 percent (between 12 to 17 percent). Experts here say that excessive salt intake, polluted water, economic limitations and lack of health facilities promote this disease. In rural areas, people do not realize for a long time that the kidneys are gradually becoming weak.

If we talk about Pakistan, the prevalence rate of CKD in Pakistan has been found to be around 12 percent (11 to 14 percent). The rapid increase in diabetes in Pakistan, excessive consumption of processed food and late initiation of treatment make the situation more serious. Studies show that access to health services there is unequal and many patients ignore the initial symptoms.

Lowest number of patients in Nepal

In South Asia, its least impact was found in Nepal. Here about 6 percent (6 to 7 percent). Although this number appears low, experts believe that many cases go unreported due to limited availability of health tests in Nepal. Due to limited medical facilities in the hilly areas of Nepal, cases are often detected late. Also, increasing blood pressure and diabetes can increase this number in the future.

Early signs of kidney failure: Kidneys are that part of our body which silently works day and night. They remove toxic elements and excess water from the body, control blood pressure and maintain the balance of minerals. But when the kidneys stop functioning properly, the body gives many signals. If not understood in time, it can take the form of a serious disease. About 10 percent of the world’s population is suffering from some kind of kidney problem and every year lakhs of people die due to this reason. Let us tell you which symptoms are visible.

What symptoms are visible?

Kidney problems often start with very minor symptoms, but ignoring them can prove costly. If there is persistent fatigue in the body, swelling appears in the legs or under the eyes, the color or quantity of urine changes, there is difficulty in breathing or the skin feels dry and itchy, then it may be a sign that your kidneys are becoming weak.

Constant fatigue or weakness can be a sign that toxins are accumulating in the body and the kidneys are not able to remove them properly. If you feel tired even after getting enough sleep, do not take it lightly and get checked by a doctor. Swelling in the body is also a big sign. When the kidneys are unable to remove excess fluid, it starts accumulating in parts of the body. Its effect is first visible on the feet, hands or face. In medical language it is called edema.

Change in urine is the clearest sign of kidney problem. Dark color of urine, appearance of foam or bubbles in it, frequent urination or feeling of burning sensation. These symptoms can indicate that there is something wrong with the kidneys. Shortness of breath or difficulty in breathing is also a hidden sign of kidney failure. When the kidneys are unable to remove excess fluid from the body, the same fluid reaches the lungs and makes breathing difficult. Many times people mistake it for heart or lung disease, whereas the real cause is kidney disease. Dry and itchy skin is a sign that the kidneys are not able to filter essential minerals and waste products from the blood. This causes mineral imbalance in the body, which makes the skin dry and itchy. This condition is often seen in advanced stages of kidney disease.

When do you need to contact a doctor?

If you feel any of these symptoms, do not delay and consult a doctor. With early detection, not only the disease can be prevented, but kidney function can also be saved to a great extent. To keep the kidneys healthy, the most important thing is a balanced and healthy diet. Reduce salt in food, because excess sodium increases blood pressure and can damage the kidneys. Eat fruits and vegetables that are low in potassium, such as apples, berries, grapes, cauliflower, cabbage and capsicum. The antioxidants present in them reduce inflammation and reduce pressure on the kidneys. Always choose light sources for protein like fish, pulses or egg whites. Avoid red meat and processed foods because the preservatives present in them force the kidneys to work harder. Along with this, excessive consumption of medicines, especially painkillers, can harm the kidneys. Do not take painkillers frequently without doctor’s advice.

Kidney Disease: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) has become a major health concern worldwide. According to the recent report of Lancet, the cases of kidney disease have doubled in the last three decades. Compared to 1990, now about 80 crore people are affected by this disease.

It has been said in the report that in most of the patients, early stage of the disease i.e. stage 1 to 3 CKD was found, the total rate of which is about 13.9 percent. In the year 2023, CKD became the ninth leading cause of death worldwide, killing about 14.8 lakh people. Not only this, reduced kidney function has been cited as a major risk factor in 11.5 percent of deaths related to heart diseases. The report says that increased blood sugar levels, obesity and high blood pressure are the main causes of kidney disease.

A large number of people are affected in India also

According to the report, India is among the top countries in the world in terms of the number of people affected by kidney disease. In 2023, the highest number of CKD patients were found in China at 15.2 crore and India at 13.8 crore. At the same time, in countries like America, Indonesia, Japan, Brazil, Russia, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Iran, Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand and Turkey, more than 1 crore adults are suffering from this disease.

Main causes of kidney disease

The report says that high blood pressure, high body mass index and seasonal temperature imbalance are the biggest reasons for kidney damage. These risks increase with increasing age. All these factors gradually increase between the age of 20 to 69 years, whereas after 70 years, high blood pressure becomes a bigger threat than BMI. At the same time, increased blood sugar levels have been found to be the biggest contributor to CKD at every age.

Symptoms are not visible in the initial stage

The biggest challenge of CKD is that there are no obvious symptoms in its initial stages. As the disease progresses, some common signs start emerging. Some of its main symptoms are as follows-

fatigue and lack of energy

swelling in feet, ankles, or hands

Change in urine volume or color

loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting

itchy or dry skin

muscle cramps or pain

trouble sleeping or lack of concentration

unexplained weight loss

difficulty breathing

Early detection and prevention is the only solution

Most people do not recognize the symptoms until the disease has progressed significantly. In such a situation, it is very important to do urine test from time to time, check blood sugar and blood pressure, and adopt a healthy lifestyle. According to experts, by improving medicines and diet in the initial stage, the pace of the disease can be slowed down to a great extent and serious problems can be avoided.

Kidney Disease Prevention Tips: Premanand Maharaj ji’s health is bad at present. Recently, a video appeared on social media, in which his face was seen swollen and red and his voice was trembling. Be it temples or mosques, people are praying for his health everywhere. Giving information about Maharaj Ji’s health, Shri Hit Radha Kelly Kunj family said that Maharaj Ji is healthy and is maintaining his daily routine. The administration has also asked people not to spread rumours. Let us tell you what are those 5 symptoms, seeing which you can know that you have Premanand Maharaj’s disease.

Premanand Maharaj’s illness

If we talk about which disease Premanand Maharaj is suffering from, then Premanand Maharaj is affected by polycystic kidney disease. This is a genetic disease, in which the kidneys gradually stop functioning. Maharaj ji had come to know about this disease many years ago. According to media reports, Maharaj ji had got it checked by the doctors of Delhi, after which he came to know that both his kidneys were damaged. He knew that he had 2 to 5 years left.

How to know that you also have this problem

When a person has polycystic kidney disease, symptoms may be difficult to see at first. As this disease progresses with time, its symptoms start appearing in humans. If we talk about its five symptoms, first of all there is constant pain in the stomach or waist. In this, there may be continuous or periodic pain in the back or lower abdomen. Secondly, there can be a problem of blood in urine, such a situation occurs because sometimes kidney cysts can burst or they can get injured, due to which blood can be found in the urine. Apart from this, you may suffer from frequent urinary infections. Due to reduced kidney function, toxins start accumulating, due to which you may suffer from fatigue, lack of energy and swelling especially in the hands and feet. Kidneys play a big role in controlling blood pressure, if you have persistent high BP problem, then you need to contact a doctor.

ways to avoid

The only way to avoid this is that if kidney disease already exists in your family, then ultrasound or other imaging tests are necessary from time to time. Apart from this, if you are troubled by high BP, then take medicine and improve your lifestyle. Drinking adequate amounts of water helps keep the kidneys healthy so that they can remove toxins.

kidney stone symptoms: Kidney Stone Disease – KSD is one of the most common urological...

kidney stone symptoms: Kidney Stone Disease – KSD is one of the most common urological problems worldwide. Its number is continuously increasing. Earlier it was considered a problem of men, but recent research shows that women, especially adolescents and young women are also being affected in large numbers. Interestingly, its symptoms and pain can vary in men and women.

Symptoms of normal pain

The biggest symptom of kidney stone in both men and women is a sudden and sharp pain, which is called Renal Colic. This pain can often spread to the side part of the body, ie between the ribs and the waist and spread to the lower abdomen and groin. Moving on the urine passage of stones causes pressure and obstruction, causing unbearable pain.

Symptoms of kidney stone in men

Pain in men is mostly felt in flank (side), lower back and groin. Sometimes this pain also spreads to testicles and scrotum. Research has found that stones in men often appear more in hot weather. The reason is the excess water through sweat and the presence of more calcium and oxalate in urin. This is the reason why calcium oxalate stone is found in men.

Symptoms of kidney stone in women

Pain in women often occurs in lower absomain and pelvic area. Many times this pain is so similar that it is considered a gynecological problem. It has more effect on lifestyle in young women. Complaints like fatigue, sleep problem and anxiety are more reported. Post-Menepazal women have seen more pain tolerance. Even during shockwave treatment, there is less pain than young women. But the threat to women is that after the treatment of stones, they are more at risk of infection and sepsis.

Other differences: hormones and stones variety

Hormone– Estrogen hormones in pre-menepazal women provide some protection to some extent and reduces the chances of becoming calcium oxalate stone. This security decreases with aging.

Stone variety– Men have more calcium oxalate stones, while in women, there are more struvite stones associated with infection.

Quality of life– In women under 40 years of age, the impact on the quality of life has been seen more than men.

Kidney stone is painful for all, but in men and women its symptoms, pain and effects may be different. It is important to understand these gender-based differences so that the patients can recognize quickly and doctors can give the right and personal treatment. As the gap between men and women is decreasing, it will become even more important to know these nuances.

Are you battling high blood pressure and kidney disease? So an apple or bowl placed...

Are you battling high blood pressure and kidney disease? So an apple or bowl placed in your plate can show more effects than green vegetables, medicines. Yes, new research has revealed that only the inclusion of fruits and vegetables in the daily diet improves not only the health of the kidney, but also reduces blood pressure and the risk of heart attack also decreases.

5 years of study

In this study at the University of Texas, USA, Austin, 153 high BP and Macrolbuminuria patients were divided into three groups.

First Group-Fruits and vegetables that make 2–4 cups base with daily meals were included.

Second Group – 4–5 tablets (650 mg) of sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) were given twice daily.

Third Group – Only General Medical Care was given.

Why is macroelbuminuria dangerous?

This condition is a sign of chronic kidney disease. It increases the risk of kidney failure over time. Also, the risk of heart attack and stroke also increases manifold.

Research results

The study found that both fruits and vegetables and sodium bicarbonate improved kidney health. However, only fruits and vegetables were effective in reducing blood pressure and reducing the risk of heart disease. Baking soda did not get these two benefits.

Drug dose also decreased

Another big advantage was that eating fruits and vegetables had to reduce the amount of medicines used in the treatment of BP and heart disease. That is, the patient also got good results in low doses of medicine.

expert opinion

According to Dr. Maninder Kahlle involved in the study, “The patients can get the benefits of kidney health, both baking soda and fruits and vegetables, but prevention of BP control and heart disease is possible only from fruits and vegetables. So they should be considered a foundational treatment for high BP patients.”

What to do patients?

Include 2–4 cups of green leafy vegetables, cucumber, tomatoes, carrots, papaya, apple, orange etc. in diet daily.

Avoid junk food, high salt and processed food.

Drink regular exercise and enough water.

If you are struggling with high BP and kidney disease, then fruits and vegetables in your plate are as important as any medicine. This will not only save the kidney, but will also keep the heart healthy and reduce dependence on medicine.
