Cesarean Delivery Risk: The continuous cases of deaths and kidney failure reported from Kota Medical College in Rajasthan have increased the concern of the people. Amidst the news of women’s health deteriorating after cesarean delivery and many patients having to go to dialysis, the biggest question being raised is whether there is really a risk of kidney failure during C section. Regarding this, doctors say that cesarean delivery is not a normal procedure but a major surgery and if the infection spreads after the operation, the situation can become serious rapidly. In such a situation, let us now tell you whether there is really a risk of kidney failure during cesarean delivery.

Cases are continuously increasing in Kota

In the last few days, the health of many pregnant women has deteriorated in Kota’s New Medical College Hospital and JK Lone Hospital. So far, four women have died, while many women have faced problems like kidney failure and falling blood pressure. Some patients are undergoing treatment in dialysis and ICU. A team of expert doctors from Jaipur has also reached Kota to investigate the matter.

How does the risk of infection increase?

According to doctors, infection is the biggest risk after cesarean delivery. If bacteria spread in the body, they can reach the blood and then a condition of sepsis can arise in the body. When sepsis occurs, many parts of the body start getting affected and the first effect is seen on the kidneys. This is the reason why in some cases the kidneys of patients stop working. Experts say that during pregnancy and operation the body’s immunity is already weaker. Due to this the infection can spread rapidly. If there is no timely treatment and monitoring, the infection causes a sudden drop in blood pressure. Due to which sufficient blood does not reach the kidneys and the risk of kidney failure increases.

Why is C section more sensitive than normal delivery?

According to doctors, in C section, several layers of the stomach and uterus are cut and the baby is taken out. This is the reason that compared to normal delivery, there is a higher risk of infection, excessive bleeding, blood clots and post-operative problems. Especially in women who have problems like anemia, diabetes, obesity or prolonged labor pain, the risk increases further. The risk is considered to be higher in cases of emergency cesarean.
