Drinking Beer For Kidney Stones: Due to our changing lifestyle, one of the diseases for which we are most at risk is kidney stones. This is a common but very painful problem. There are many misconceptions spread among people regarding this. One of the most popular beliefs among these is that drinking beer automatically removes the stones stuck in the kidneys, because beer increases the amount of urine. However, the truth is that using beer as a treatment is neither safe nor reliable. On the contrary, it may increase the pain. Let us tell you about it in detail.

Does drinking beer remove all types of kidney stones?

Many people believe that by drinking beer the stones come out automatically. This thinking came about because beer increases urine output and it is believed that it can dislodge small stones. But the truth is that beer only increases urination, but the stones formed from it do not come out safely. Stones smaller than 5 mm may sometimes pass on their own, but larger stones can cause severe pain and blockage if dislodged forcefully. Some studies have linked beer to reducing the risk of stone formation, but this is for prevention, not treatment.

Is Beer Safe Home Remedy?

Many people consider beer to be an easy and harmless solution instead of medicines or surgery. But the truth is that beer contains oxalate, which is a major reason for stone formation. Drinking beer for a long time can dehydrate the body and increase the risk of new stone formation. Apart from this, electrolyte balance may deteriorate, pressure on kidneys and other health problems may also occur.

Will drinking too much beer cause stones to pass quickly?

It is also a common thought that drinking too much beer will flush the stones quickly. But the truth is that it is not necessary to remove stones due to sudden production of excess urine. If there is blockage in the ureter, pain, nausea and complications may increase. Nowadays, there are medicines available which help in safe removal of stones by relaxing the muscles of the ureter.

Is beer better than medical treatment?

Some people consider the treatment to be expensive or troublesome and consider beer as an alternative. However, the truth is that medical treatment is much safer and effective. Medicines can remove small stones and if necessary, stones can be easily removed with modern, minimally invasive procedures.

What do experts say?

Dr. Deepesh Kalra, M.S., M.Ch. (Urology), Dr.N.B. (Urology) has said in his video regarding this that “People have often been heard saying that if you have stomach stones then start drinking beer. It is also said that drinking beer removes kidney stones and beer cuts the stones and throws them out. But according to health experts, this is the biggest myth.”

The problem of kidney stones has become very common these days. People suffering from problems like severe pain, burning sensation and difficulty in urination often keep looking for new methods of treatment. Meanwhile, some time ago a claim came forward which surprised everyone. In fact, some time ago it was claimed that kidney stones can be removed automatically by riding a roller coaster. It may be difficult for many people to believe after hearing this, but an attempt was made to test it in a study conducted in America. In such a situation, let us tell you whether kidney stones can actually be cured by riding a roller coaster and how much truth is there in this claim?

How did this strange claim happen?

The claim that kidney stones can be cured by sitting on a roller coaster came into discussion a long time ago when some people reported that their kidney stones were thrown out after sitting on Walt Disney World’s Big Thunder Mountain Railroad ride. After this claim, doctors at Michigan State University of America had decided to research this claim. In this research, a 3D printed silicone model of a human kidney was made, in which urine and kidney stones of three different sizes were kept. After this, keeping this model in a bag, the scientists traveled on the roller coaster ride of Disney Park 60 times. The purpose of this research was to know whether stones come out due to strong shocks and movements or not.

Surprising results revealed in research

In this research, it was revealed that when the model was placed on the back seat of the roller coaster, the stones came out in about 63 percent of the cases. At the same time, in the model placed on the front seat, only 16 percent of the stones could come out. Apart from this, the maximum effect was seen when the stones were in the upper part of the kidney. In such a situation, all the stones came out in 100 percent of the cases when kept behind.

Research was not done on real patients

In the research done by scientists regarding kidney stones, the model’s kidney stones came out after being placed on the roller coaster. The thing to note in this research was that this research was not done on real patients, but on a model kidney. Scientists say that this is preliminary research, the purpose of which was to understand whether stones can move due to strong shocks. However, it cannot be claimed that a similar effect occurs in humans also. Regarding this, many neurologists have also said that till now no concrete evidence has been found which can prove that kidney stones are removed by riding roller coaster. However, according to some experts, some patients have complained of increased pain or slipping of the stone after riding.

Kidney stone (kidney stones) is one of the most common diseases of today. Earlier this problem was more visible in men, but now research shows that women, especially adults and young women are also getting vulnerable to it. According to a study by the National Library of Medicine, now its effect is almost equal on both men and women.

Difference of pain in men and women

Kidney stone pain is suddenly and very sharp, which is called Renal Colic in medical language. This pain often starts near the waist and spreads to the stomach and groin.

among men: This pain is mostly in the waist, back and groin. When the stone goes into a ureter, the pain can also be felt to the testicles and scrotum.

In women: Women are mostly in the lower abdomen and pelvis. Many times this pain sounds like pain associated with gynecology.

More impact in women

According to the study, the effect of kidney stone is more serious in women under 40 years of age. They have more problems with fatigue, lack of sleep and anxiety. At the same time, the pain feels different due to hormonal changes after menopause. In addition, women are more at risk of sepsis ie infection after kidney stone surgery or lithotripsy.

Effect of hormone and lifestyle

Hormones also play a big role in kidney stone. Pre-meinoposal prevents estrogen hormone stones in women. But this security decreases when aging. At the same time, due to excessive sweating in men and high calcium and oxalate in urine, there is a possibility of repeated stones.

Effect on life

Kidney stone pain is difficult for everyone. But it affects their lives in women. Fatigue, lack of sleep and anxiety affect their everyday life.

Kidney stone prevention measures

To avoid kidney stone, it is important that we pay attention to our diet and lifestyle. Drinking sufficient amount of water daily is most important, because it keeps the urin clean and removes the minerals that make up stone. Eating more salt, fried and packaged items should be avoided. Take a balanced amount of protein and take more foods with green vegetables, fruits and fiber. Sugar and soda drinks pressurize the kidney, so it is beneficial to reduce them. Regular exercise also helps in removing toxins from the body.
