A total of 75 patients were admitted to the ‘Government Medical College’ (GMC) Hospital here after large -scale cloudburst in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir and one of them died during treatment, while four others remain ‘serious’.

According to the official data released from the hospital on Sunday, in addition, 11 bodies and one part of the body from the village affected by cloudburst and a body was also brought to the hospital morgue and later after completing medical formalities, they were handed over to their families.

61 people died due to cloudburst

On August 14, 61 people were killed in a cloudburst in the village Chisoti falling on the way to the Machail Mata temple, most of whom were devotees. More than 100 people were injured in this incident and 50 others went missing.

According to the data, GMC operated 24 out of 75 patients and one of them (35 -year -old Ashok Kumar of Vijaypur area of Samba district) died on 16 August.

Out of 47 patients admitted, the condition of 47 patients is critical

The hospital said that the condition of four of the 47 patients admitted here is critical. 20 patients were discharged, three escaped and four other medical advice left the hospital.

There were 15 people with priests in the temple
Gola Nirmala Devi said on Friday, “My father Bodh Raj and uncle Dinanath used to work as a priest in the local temple. Both of them, along with about 15 people, were swept away in the sudden flood. They asked me to apply tilak on the forehead, but I refused and left before the tragedy came.

Recalling the developments, she said that she had gone to a mill to grind wheat and went to the temple while returning home.

‘If she stayed there, she would have been a victim of an accident’
Nirmala said, “I saw my father sitting among about 20 devotees. He was applying tilak on his forehead and asked me to come forward. I told that my uncle had applied tilak on my forehead in the morning. If I had stayed there for tea-breakfast or lunch, I too would have been a victim of an accident. ”

3 temples, 10 houses, one windcast damaged

Ramesh Chander, head constable of Jammu and Kashmir Police, said that he was stationed at the anchor site on the journey route and was scared to hear the sound of cloudburst. Chander said, “The ground started shaking under my feet. I saw those who could not run on time, they were suppressed or swept away. Manjar was very frightening. ”

167 people rescued, 38 in critical condition
On Thursday, August 14, a cloudburst in Chosity village was suddenly flooded, in which at least 46 people, including two CISF personnel, died and many others were trapped. Despite the night in Chosity village, the rescuers worked with their lives and took out 167 people from the debris. The condition of 38 of these is critical. More than 50 people have been admitted to Kishtwar District Hospital, many of whom are restless in search of their loved ones, which have not yet been known.

People told their eyes
During the tragedy, the people present there told that he was waiting for breakfast at the anchor site on the banks of a river, when some people shouted in nervousness and asked everyone to run away in a safe place. Suddenly there was a strong flow of water. Together, stones and trees also came, which buried everything.

A devotee named Ganesh said that he was lucky to survive. He was trapped between two big stones. He told that the anchor site was full of people. Some people were going for pilgrimage and others were coming back from the temple. It is difficult to guess how many people were trapped under the rubble.

People engaged in finding missing lovers
By Thursday night, about 10 people had reached the police control room by complaining about the disappearance of their families. The floods after the cloudburst are trapped by the floods and vehicles are standing among the uprooted trees, which shows the scene of destruction. Due to bad weather, it was not possible to seek the help of helicopter or to take off the rescuers at the scene.

Under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Sharma, the district administration gathered all resources to speed up rescue and relief operations. Sharma, who reached the spot, was seen monitoring the rescue operation. Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma, who is also a local MLA in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, reached the spot and met the injured along with party ally and Kishtwar MLA Shagun Parihar.

At present, the dead are being identified, after which legal formalities will be completed and the bodies will be handed over to their families.
