The specialty of garlic is that it can be grown even in a very small space. The soil should be light, water should not stand for long and the plants should get enough sunlight to grow easily. Only then the yield would be excellent. Before planting garlic in the kitchen garden, some important things have to be kept in mind so that the plants are well prepared and the crop is good.

How to choose seeds?

Always choose big and healthy cloves for planting garlic. The thicker the clove, the better the bulb will be. If you wish, you can take NSC packets available in the market, but if the garlic kept at home is good, then its cloves can also be used comfortably.

How to prepare soil?

Light, friable and not too wet soil is best for garlic. Add some cowdung or compost to the garden soil so that the plants get adequate nutrition. If you are growing it in a pot, then a 12-15 inch pot is absolutely fine.

How to sow?

Plant the garlic cloves along with the peel and always keep the pointed part upwards. Bury the cloves about 1-1.5 inches into the soil and keep a distance of 4-5 cm between the plants, so that they get space to spread and the nodes are formed well.

There is no need to water garlic daily, light irrigation every 2-3 days is enough, just keep in mind that the soil should be slightly moist but water should not stagnate. If it gets sunlight for 4-5 hours every day, then the plants grow very well.

How to care?

Do not allow weeds to remain around the garlic plants, otherwise their growth may stop. Keep doing light weeding every 15-20 days so that the soil remains soft and the roots can get air. By adding a little compost every 30-40 days, the plants grow very well. Neem solution is best in the kitchen garden to protect them from pests. Sprinkle it once in 10-15 days.

When will we get the harvest?

Garlic takes about 4–5 months to become fully ripe. When its leaves start drying and bending, then understand that your crop is ready for digging.

Groundnut is a hot season crop. It is best to sow it between March to June. The temperature should be around 25 to 35 degrees Celsius so that the seeds can germinate easily.

How to prepare soil?

Groundnut grows very well in light and sandy soil. If you have a pot, then mix 60% soil and 40% sand in it. This will keep the soil loose and will help in germination of seeds. You can also add organic fertilizers like earthworm manure or rotten cow dung in the soil, this will provide adequate nutrition to the plant.

How to sow seeds?

You can use raw peanuts for sowing at home. Soak the seeds in light water a day before. Now sow the seeds in the pot at a depth of about 5-6 cm and cover them with soil on top. Keep a distance of at least 10 cm between the seeds.

Peanuts do not need much water. Give light water every 2-3 days so that the soil remains moist. Excessive watering can cause the plants to rot. Sunlight is very important for peanuts, hence keep the pot in a place where it gets 6-8 hours of sunlight.

About thirty-forty days after sowing, the plant starts flowering. After the flowers fall, its stem goes into the soil and pod is formed there. This is the most interesting stage of peanut. It takes about three to four months for the pod to be completely ready.

When to harvest?

When the leaves start turning yellow, uproot the plant carefully, remove the soil, separate the pod and dry it in the sun for a few days. Now your home grown organic peanuts are ready.
