The match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings is being played at Eden Gardens. Due to rain, only 3.4 overs could be played in KKR’s innings. As per the rules, efforts will be made to conduct at least 5-5 overs matches to determine the result of the match. According to the latest update, the cut-off time for the 5-5 over match is said to be 11.14 pm.

In this match, Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and chose to bat first. In 3.4 overs, KKR had scored 25 runs at the loss of 2 wickets, after which rain interfered in the match. The match was stopped at around 7.45 pm. After which, along with continuous rain, strong winds also continued.

When there is rain in an IPL match, efforts are made to conduct at least 5-5 over matches. Therefore, if the match does not start by 11.14 pm i.e. the cut-off time, then the match will be declared cancelled. If the rain continues and the conditions on the field become unplayable, the match can be canceled even before the cut-off time. However, the rules may be different for playoff matches.

If the match is canceled then as per the rules both the teams will get one point each. If this happens, it will be the first point for KKR in IPL 2026 because it has lost both its matches so far. On the other hand, Punjab Kings will have 5 points. Punjab team has been unbeaten in the tournament so far.
