Kuldeep Yadav has made a historical record in his name. Kuldeep took 5 wickets in the first innings of the second test against West Indies. Kuldeep has equaled the record for most 5-wicket hauls by a left-arm wrist spinner in Test cricket history. He has now come at par with England’s Johnny Wardle, who had taken five 5-wicket hauls in his career while bowling left-arm wrist spin.

The Indian team had declared its first innings at 518 runs. In response, West Indies scored only 248 runs in its first innings, due to which Team India forced it to play follow-on. Kuldeep made a big contribution in restricting the Caribbean team to a small score. He bowled 26.5 overs and gave 82 runs and took 5 wickets.

Highest wicket by a left-arm wrist spinner

The record for most number of wickets in Tests by a left arm wrist spin bowler is now jointly held by Kuldeep Yadav and John Wardle. Both of them achieved the feat of taking 5 or more wickets in a single Test innings. After him in this list comes South Africa’s Paul Adams, who has received the Pfeiffer four times.

Kuldeep Yadav’s record is special because he has taken only 15 test matches to reach 5th place. Whereas Johnny Wardle had achieved this position in 28 matches. Kuldeep dismissed Alick Athanez, Shay Hope, Tevin Imlach, Justin Greaves and Jayden Seales in the first innings of West Indies.

Kuldeep Yadav has taken a total of 65 wickets in his 15 Test match career so far. This is the second time that he has achieved a 5-wicket haul in a Test match against West Indies.
