At the same time, children of soldiers who have received major awards like Paramvir Chakra, Mahavir Chakra, Veer Chakra, Ashok Chakra, Kirti Chakra, Shaurya Chakra, Sena Medal, Navy Medal, Air Force Medal are also given admission if the seats are full. Children of police personnel who have received the President Police Medal for Gallantry or Police Medal for Gallantry also get this facility.

According to reports, children who get first, second or third position in Khelo India, SGFI, CBSE, National or State level games. They can also easily get admission in KVS. Children coming from Kashmir are also given special opportunities. They can get additional time of 30 days on the date of admission. Besides, SC/ST children are also given relaxation in cutoff. Their entry can be done more than the prescribed number.
