New Labor Law: Working overtime is common for working employees in the country. Many people work overtime but they do not know how much money they will get in return for it. But now the employees have got some relief under the new labor law. According to the new labor law rules, now employees will get double the salary in return for doing extra work.

What is overtime?
According to labor laws, if any employee is required to work more than the stipulated working time, he is required to pay extra in the form of overtime. Earlier, this rule was not being followed properly in many companies. Due to which the employees had to suffer losses. Now the government and the labor department have increased strictness in this direction. Clear instructions have been given to the companies to keep correct records of overtime hours and pay the employees as per the rules. If you also work one or two hours more than the eight or nine hour shift in your office, then it is called overtime. According to the new rules of this overtime:

• If a person works longer than his shift, he will definitely get overtime payment.
• The person working overtime will be given ‘double pay’. That means, if you have worked one hour more then you will be given two hours’ salary as extra pay.
• Under the new rules, no company can refuse to work overtime or pay extra money to its employees.
• According to the new rule, you will get this ‘double salary’ according to the calculation of basic salary.

The objective is to make employees aware
The purpose of this new rule is to make employees aware of their rights. If they are made to work more than the stipulated time, they can demand overtime payment. For this, the HR department or labor department of the company can be contacted. The biggest advantage of this new rule will be that transparency will be maintained in the office and employees will not be exploited.
