Sri lanka salt crisis: India’s neighboring country Sri Lanka is struggling with lack of salt these days. Due to heavy rains in this country located in the Indian Ocean, there has been a huge decline in the production of salt. The salt that was made before the rain has also been washed away in the water. The situation has become so bad that Sri Lanka does not have the required amount of salt for use.

Learn how much one kilo of salt has become

After lack of salt in Sri Lanka, some people have started taking wrong advantage of it. There has been a huge jump in salt prices in the country. In such a situation, many people have started doing black marketing. This salt is now being sold four times more than normal. Due to the current crisis, the price of one kilo of salt in the country has increased to Rs 145. At the same time, Sri Lanka is producing only 23 percent of the requirement.

India extends a help to help

In this hour of crisis, India has extended his hand to help Sri Lanka. India has sent a consignment of 3.050 metric tonnes of salt there. 2,800 metric tonnes have been sent by the National Salt Company of India from the total shipment. At the same time, the remaining 250 metric tons came from private companies.

Sri Lanka came in serious economic crisis two years ago

Sri Lanka had a serious economic crisis two years ago, due to which the essential items became very expensive here. More than 28 percent of the population is still struggling with this situation. The economic problem remains in the country due to wrong policies in the agriculture sector, decrease in foreign exchange reserves and declining global supply.
