The statement of State Revenue Minister Karan Singh Verma during a government program organized in Sehore district is now being discussed intensely in political and social circles. The minister, in an open forum, warned women beneficiaries of Ladli Brahmin Yojana that if they do not participate in government programs, their names can be removed from the scheme.

Revenue Minister Karan Singh Verma had attended the inauguration program of new sub-health centers in village Napalakhedi and Dhamanda of Sehore district. Speaking from the stage during the program organized in village Dhamanda, he said that 894 beloved sisters in this village are being given Rs 1500 every month, but their attendance in the program is very less.

Expressing displeasure over this, the minister said that one day all the sisters will be called and those who will not come, a report will be sent to get their names struck off.

The controversy regarding this statement of the Minister also increased because Ladli Brahmin Yojana is a social welfare scheme and not related to attendance in any program.

In the statement given from the stage, she also said that earlier during the Congress rule, women used to get money, now the government is giving money, the Prime Minister is sending wheat to the farmers from Delhi and depositing money in the accounts, but people are not paying attention.

Talk was also held on health facilities

However, the main objective of the program was the inauguration of new constructions related to health services. The minister inaugurated the sub-health center built at a cost of Rs 56.09 lakh in village Napalakhedi and the Ayushman Arogya Mandir built at a cost of Rs 65 lakh in village Dhamanda.

He said that the state government is continuously working to strengthen health services in rural areas, so that people do not have to go far for treatment.

In his address, the minister also praised the Ayushman Bharat scheme and said that through this, poor families are getting the facility of free treatment. He appealed to the people to adopt regular health checkups, cleanliness and balanced diet.

The minister also said that the aim of the government is not only to provide treatment but also to make people aware about prevention of diseases.

Many prominent people were present in the program

Storyteller Pandit Pradeep Mishra, CMHO Sudhir Kumar Dehariya and many public representatives and health department officials were present in this program. Cultural presentations were also given by the students.

Although the announcement of development works related to health services was important, but the statement given by the Revenue Minister regarding Ladli Sisters now seems to be overshadowing the entire program.

Questions are being raised whether the benefits of a scheme can be linked to attendance at the programme. At present, this statement remains under discussion in political and administrative circles.

The Madhya Pradesh government on Monday (November 10) approved increasing the monthly financial assistance under the Laadli Behna Scheme from Rs 1,250 to Rs 1,500. More than 1.26 crore women beneficiaries of this scheme will start getting the increased amount from this month. An additional expenditure of Rs 1793.75 crore will be incurred on this.

According to the report of news agency PTI, the total estimated expenditure for the scheme in the year 2025-26 has increased to Rs 20,450.99 crore. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav is going to start the payment of the increased amount in a program to be held on November 12 in Seoni district.

CM Mohan Yadav had promised women

A government statement said, ‘The Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Monday approved increasing the monthly financial assistance under the Ladli Brahmin Scheme from Rs 1,250 to Rs 1,500.’ CM Mohan Yadav, during a function in Sheopur on October 12, had said that the upcoming Bhai Dooj and Diwali festivals will bring good news for women as the assistance under the scheme will be increased.

Initially the assistance amount was Rs 1000

It is known that this scheme was started on June 10, 2023, during the tenure of former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. At that time the amount of assistance under this was Rs 1000. The government had revised it to Rs 1,250 in September 2023 itself. This scheme is considered to be an election game changer for BJP in Madhya Pradesh.
