Delhi’s quiet evening suddenly turned into screams and smoke, when a massive explosion occurred in a Hyundai i20 car near the Red Fort metro station on Monday, November 10, 2025. 12 people died and more than 20 were injured in this explosion. The explosion was so strong that many vehicles parked nearby were engulfed in flames and there was chaos in the area. The injured people have been admitted to LNJP Hospital, while initial investigation by security agencies has indicated links to Jaish-e-Mohammed.

This terrorist attack in India was prominently shown by major newspapers and news channels of Pakistan. The media there called it the biggest terrorist attack in New Delhi.

Pakistani newspapers gave space to the attack

Dawn newspaper wrote that at least eight people have died and many have been injured in the explosion near the Red Fort in New Delhi, India. Police said that the reasons for the incident are being investigated. Dawn further wrote that a few hours before the blast, 2,900 kg of explosive material was seized in Haryana, due to which a connection between the two incidents is suspected.

Geo News reported. He wrote that the Delhi car blast is being investigated under India’s anti-terrorism law UAPA (Unlawful Activities Prevention Act). According to the report, India’s police and intelligence agencies have considered it a “serious incident related to national security”.

The Express Tribune wrote in its report that at least eight people have been killed in a car explosion in the Indian capital. Investigative agencies are busy finding the hidden network behind the explosion.

Pakistan Today described it as a serious terrorist attack in the most crowded areas of India and wrote that many vehicles were burnt due to the blast, while the fire department controlled the fire after an hour of effort.

Focus of investigation Faridabad and Pulwama connection

The investigating agencies have come to know that the Hyundai i20 car used in the blast came from Faridabad and is related to a person named Tariq of Pulwama. NIA and NSG teams have reached the spot and are investigating in every direction. Police have imposed sections of UAPA and Explosives Act in this case.

Strict security arrangements in the capital

Immediately after the blast, high alert has been issued in Mumbai, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal including Delhi. Additional security forces have been deployed in airports, metro stations, railway stations and major markets. Delhi Police has increased night checking on all borders so that suspicious vehicles and persons can be identified.

The Supreme Court has dismissed the petition in which a woman had demanded occupation of the Red Fort in Delhi, describing herself as a descendant of the Mughals. The court asked the petitioner why only the Red Fort, why the Taj Mahal and Fatehpur Sikri should not be occupied, they have also been built by the Mughals.

A bench of Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna and Justice Sanyaj Kumar dismissed the petition of petitioner Sultana Begum and said that the petition is completely wrong. Sultana Begum claims that she is a widow of Bahadur Shah Zafar II’s super -grandson. The bench said, ‘Why only ask for Red Fort? Why not Fatehpur Sikri and Taj Mahal. The writ petition is completely wrong, so it is rejected.

Supreme Court rejected Sultana Begum’s lawyer
Sultana Begum’s petition was dismissed by the Delhi High Court on the basis of delay in December last year, on which her lawyer told the Supreme Court that the petition was dismissed on the basis of delay in the High Court and not on the basis of merit, so the Supreme Court should give the same concession and dismiss it on the basis of delay. However, the Supreme Court refused to accept his demand.

Sultana Begum filed a petition in the High Court in the year 2021, which was rejected by a single judge bench. 900 days later, the petitioners reached the High Court. Here the bench of Justice Vibhu Bakru and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela dismissed the petition on the basis of a delay of two and a half years.

‘The British had taken away the Mughals’, the petitioner claims
The petitioner says that during the first freedom struggle in 1857, the British East India Company had denied Sultana Begum’s family illegally from property. After this, Bahadur Shah Zafar II was deported from the country and took the Red Fort from the capture of the Mughals. He says that and now the Government of India is illegal. Sultana Begum has demanded occupation of the Red Fort and compensation from the government.

What did the High Court say?
In its judgment of 2021, a single judge’s bench had said on the plea of the petitioner, “Even if you assume that Bahadur Shah Zafar II was illegally denied the capture of the Red Fort by the East India Company, even after more than 164 years, how this petition was hearing, while the ancestors were always aware of this incident.”

After this decision of the single bench, Sultana Begum put a case before the Dividan bench of the High Court, but she took more than two and a half years in it. Because of this, the court refused to hear the petition and then she reached the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court disposed of a petition filed 20 years ago on the 17th century Mughal memorial Red Fort on Tuesday (March 25, 2025). This petition was filed requesting the renovation and protection of the Red Fort. The court on Tuesday disposed of the petition, saying that its expert committee had complied with most of the instructions.

Justice Suryakant and Justice N. A bench of Kotishwar Singh was hearing the petition of Rajiv Sethi. Rajiv Sethi filed a petition in the year 2003 claiming that the Red Fort was not protected as per the international standard.

The Supreme Court said that on August 6, 2004, it formed a nine -member committee, including the Director General of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). The bench said, “20 years have passed since then and we have no reason to believe that the expert committee has not followed the court’s instructions … (but) if nothing has been done or has been left, the petitioner has the freedom to knock the court with the new petition.”

The court informed Rajiv Sethi’s lawyer Bina Madhavan that there is no justification for keeping the petition active after more than two decades of public interest litigation has passed and after adequate compliance with the instructions issued.

The Supreme Court said that in August 2004 it not only formed an expert committee, but also issued extensive instructions for the preservation of the memorial. Also, in the year 2003, Senior Advocate Harish Savalve was appointed as Justice. He was given the command to help the court and to inspect the work of renovation.

The court at that time directed Harish Salve to visit the Red Fort with the then Solicitor General Kirit Rawal and the petitioner’s counsel Kapil Sibal and present a report.
