Deepak Prakash, son of RLM Chief Upendra Kushwaha, has now become Panchayati Raj Minister in the NDA government. He has also taken charge. On the other hand, the opposition is cornering the NDA government on the appointment of ministers in the government, while on the other hand, another issue has started. It is about Deepak Prakash becoming a counting agent. Questions were already being raised regarding this on RJD as well as on social media, but now Tej Pratap Yadav has raised the issue.

National President of Janashakti Janata Dal Tej Pratap Yadav wrote from his X handle last Sunday (November 23, 2025) night, “Deepak Prakash became the counting agent of the independent candidate Ramayan Paswan who had confiscated the security deposit in Sasaram. He became a minister in the Nitish government without contesting the elections. Isn’t it the magic of Modi-Nitish?”

RJD had raised the question before Tej Pratap

Before Tej Pratap Yadav, the same question was asked from RJD’s handle on 22nd November. It was written, “Deepak Prakash, who got the security deposit confiscated in Sasaram, became the counting agent of independent candidate Ramayan Paswan and became a minister in the Nitish government without contesting elections. Isn’t it the magic of Modi-Nitish? What kind of development is needed in Bihar now?”

Now understand what is the whole matter

About 22 candidates had contested from Sasaram assembly constituency in the 2025 assembly elections. Ramayan Paswan’s counting agent, who contested as an independent candidate, was Deepak Prakash, son of RLMO supremo Upendra Kushwaha, who is now the Panchayati Raj Minister. Ramayan Paswan got the election symbol Baby Walker. He got 327 votes. The bail was confiscated.

On the other hand, the biggest thing is that Deepak Prakash was sitting as an agent on the RO table to count his 327 votes, about which questions are now being raised. Not only this, his mother Snehlata Kushwaha had also contested elections from this assembly constituency. She has also won. After Deepak became a minister, his ID card issued by RO during the elections is going viral on social media. Now Tej Pratap has also shared this.

Counting agent means that person who remains ready at the counting table on the counting day as a representative of the candidate in the counting hall. Most of the big political parties appoint their own counting agents. The pass is made with the signature of the returning officer. In such a situation, the question is that when Deepak Prakash’s mother Snehlata was contesting elections in Sasaram, then why did he become the agent of an independent candidate named Ramayan Paswan?

After the division of portfolios of ministers in Bihar, Upendra Kushwaha’s son Deepak Prakash has taken charge of the Panchayati Raj Department. Only after assuming charge on Saturday (22 November), he held a meeting with the Secretary and officials of the department and issued important instructions. He has given a big statement saying that at many places the work is not being completed on time. He has also raised questions regarding the quality of construction materials. There was also mention of forming a committee to review the work done at the Panchayat level.

Panchayati Raj Minister Deepak Prakash said while talking to the media, “I have got a huge responsibility. Got an opportunity to work under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi and CM Nitish Kumar. I have assumed charge. Extensive discussions have been held with the Secretary and other officials of the department. There was a detailed discussion on whether the ongoing schemes should be implemented properly and whether new schemes should come in future. There was a detailed discussion with the officials within the department. Some ongoing work and some new work were also discussed.

Quality of work is not good in many places – Deepak Prakash

He further said, “The need was felt to issue some instructions to the department officials. One of them is that recently the construction work of Panchayat buildings is going on in the entire Bihar. It has been seen at many places that the quality of work is not as it should be. Either the quality of the construction material is low. And at many places it has also been found that the work is not being completed on time.

‘A committee will be formed to review the works at Panchayat level’

The minister said, “So that whatever work is being done at the Panchayat level can be properly monitored, a committee will be formed with representatives of various political parties at the Panchayat level.” The work of this committee will be to review the work done at the Panchayat level. This will also ensure accountability and the representatives will also get their share in strengthening democracy.

Emphasis on building assets on Zilla Parishad lands

He also mentioned the Zilla Parishad lands. He said, “Another issue is the Zilla Parishad lands at the district level. There is a total of about 35 thousand acres of land in Bihar including all the districts. Revenue generating assets should be developed on these lands, for this either these lands should be given on lease directly or buildings should be constructed on those places. For example, shops should be built in small slots, which can be given on rent for employment.

‘Vacant posts in Panchayati Raj Department will be filled soon’

Deepak Prakash said that development in the form of assets will provide a source of revenue to the department. Along with this, employment will also be created by taking it on rent or lease. He also said, “The third thing is that whatever vacancy is there within the department, there should be reinstatement as soon as possible.” For this also, instructions have been given to the officials of the department. Please note that Minister Deepak Prakash is the son of Upendra Kushwaha and at present is not a member of any House.

When Upendra Kushwaha’s son Deepak Prakash was made a minister in the new government of Bihar, his simple attire and casual behavior suddenly went viral on social media. For this reason people started calling him ‘Viral Minister’.

According to the information, in an EXCLUSIVE conversation with ABP, Deepak openly answered the questions about his political thinking, ministerial responsibilities and familyism.

I have become a minister for the first time, but have old relations with politics – Deepak Prakash

Deepak Prakash said that he is not new to politics. Since childhood, I have been watching my father Upendra Kushwaha working among the public. He said that he has got the responsibility of ministerial post for the first time. It is a big thing for me that I will get a chance to work with leaders like Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. This is both an honor and a responsibility for me. Deepak told that he got the information about being made a minister through a meeting, which was called by Upendra Kushwaha.

Change is necessary in politics- Deepak

When he was asked a question about his attire, Deepak without hesitation said that change is necessary in politics. The youth are running away from old politics. If we also stay away from them, how will new energy come into politics? I want to meet like common people and live among them.

Don’t link my qualifications with familyism – Deepak

When the journalist raised the issue of nepotism, because Upendra Kushwaha’s wife is also an MLA and Kushwaha himself is a Rajya Sabha MP, Deepak said, “Don’t link my ability with nepotism. If I have been given the responsibility, I will live up to it. I have been selected on the basis of my ability.”

In a special conversation with ABP News, Upendra Kushwaha clearly said that the decision to make son Deepak Prakash a minister is not just related to familyism, but there is also a big reason behind it related to the strength of the party.

‘The reversed trend caused great harm to RLM’

Upendra Kushwaha said that his party has been weakened earlier also due to the divisions among the MLAs and MPs. He reminded that three MPs from his party had won the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, but later two MPs switched to another party. This had a deep impact on the strength and credibility of the party. Similarly, two MLAs of his party had won in the 2015 assembly elections, but both of them later left the party and joined other parties. Kushwaha said that such incidents broke the morale of the workers and weakened the organization.

‘Stability is necessary to ensure that such a situation does not happen again’

Upendra Kushwaha said that due to repeated political upheavals, there was a need to provide stability to the party. He said that such a situation should not happen again that our people win and then go to another party. This breaks the party and weakens trust.

In this context, Kushwaha also clarified that giving the responsibility of power to a trusted member brings stability in the party and strengthens the organization. His indication was clear that if a trusted member of the family is part of the government, then the possibility of disunity is less.

‘Deepak Prakash got responsibility on the basis of merit’

Upendra Kushwaha also stressed that making Deepak Prakash a minister is not just a political strategy but also the result of his ability. He said that Deepak has been given this responsibility considering his ability and ability to work. This decision was not taken merely on the basis of family. He further said that stability and strength are necessary in politics and it is expected from Deepak that he will fulfill this responsibility well.

This statement makes it clear that amidst the questions of familyism raised in Bihar politics, Upendra Kushwaha is openly putting forward his strategy and compulsions. He claims that Deepak’s appointment is a deliberate step towards securing the stability and future of the party.

Upendra Kushwaha’s son Deepak Prakash has also got a place in Nitish Kumar’s new cabinet in Bihar. Deepak Prakash himself told that he was not ready for this. He had arrived in jeans, shirt and slippers. Shortly before the start of the ceremony, he was told that he had to take the oath of office as a minister. That’s why he was not even prepared.

Deepak Prakash was made a minister without becoming an MLA and without contesting elections. Nitish Kumar’s other 25 ministers arrived in traditional attire, but Deepak Prakash took oath wearing jeans and shirt only. Meanwhile, a big discussion also started that how will Deepak Prakash be made MLA?

JDU or BJP, who will sacrifice?

It is certain that Upendra Kushwaha’s son Deepak Prakash has to be sent to the Legislative Council, but the question arises how? According to the rules, it is necessary for him to become an MLA within 6 months of becoming a minister. In such a situation, from which party he will be made MLC is a matter of discussion. JDU or BJP…who will sacrifice his seat for Deepak Prakash?

The term of these MLAs is ending

The term of 6 MLAs of the Legislative Council is ending next year. The names of four of these are- Ashok Chaudhary-(JDU), Sanjay Singh-(JDU), Nivedita Singh (BJP), Rajendra Gupta (BJP). Political experts believe that it is not easy for Deepak Prakash to ask for JDU quota seat from Nitish Kumar, hence it is possible that BJP may give a seat from its quota to the RLM leader.

What did Deepak Prakash say after becoming minister?

Deepak Prakash spoke to the media after taking oath and said, “Thanks to Upendra Kushwaha and the party workers for the opportunity given to him. I am very overwhelmed with the opportunity to work under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. I have got the opportunity to serve the public, I am now realizing the responsibility that has fallen on my shoulders. I am determined to fulfill that responsibility.”

Nitish Kumar took oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar at Gandhi Maidan in Patna on Thursday (20 November). Along with Nitish Kumar, who became the Chief Minister for the 10th time, 26 ministers also took the oath of office and secrecy. This time many new faces have been included in the cabinet, in which a person who did not contest in this election has also been made a minister, his name is Deepak Prakash.

You may not know Deepak Prakash directly, but everyone knows his father very well. Deepak Prakash is the son of prominent leader of Bihar Upendra Kushwaha. Upendra Kushwaha is known for his ‘Lav-Kush’ equation, which links the OBC Kurmi and OBC Kushwaha (Koeri) groups together. These classes have a good population in Bihar and Kushwaha is one of the most influential leaders of this community.

Upendra Kushwaha gave a chance to his son

Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM), as an ally of NDA, won four out of six seats in this election. Despite this, Upendra Kushwaha left his MLAs for the post of minister and gave the opportunity to his son Deepak Prakash, who is currently not a member of any House. He will have to become a member of the Legislative Council or Assembly within the next six months.

On which seats did RLM win?

RLM won Bajpatti, Madhubani, Sasaram and Dinara seats. In Bajpatti, Rameshwar Kumar Mahato won by 3395 votes, in Madhubani, Madhav Anand won by 20,552 votes, in Sasaram, Upendra Kushwaha’s wife Snehlata won by a margin of more than 25 thousand votes and in Dinara, Alo Kumar Singh won by 10,834 votes.

RLM, contesting assembly elections for the first time, has got a ministerial post in Nitish cabinet. Upendra Kushwaha has established his son Deepak Prakash on the political stage by making him a minister, while his wife will remain active with her victory in the assembly.

A major political upheaval has been seen in the newly formed Nitish Kumar cabinet in...

A major political upheaval has been seen in the newly formed Nitish Kumar cabinet in Bihar. This time Deepak Prakash has been appointed to the post of minister without becoming an MLA. This step is being seen as a political move by Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) chief Upendra Kushwaha. Initially, the name of his wife Snehlata, who was elected MLA from Sasaram from Kushwaha’s party, was proposed for the post of minister, but at the last moment the equations changed and the situation was completely reversed.

How did Upendra Kushwaha make the deal?

This development is related to Upendra Kushwaha’s displeasure at the time of seat distribution in NDA. It is being said that due to resentment he met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and took the promise of an MLC seat. Taking full advantage of this opportunity, Kushwaha made a big political deal. He made his son Deepak Prakash a minister in place of his wife. It is noteworthy that Deepak Prakash has not participated in any election yet.

 Deepak Prakash’s claim confirmed

After joining the Nitish cabinet, it is mandatory for Deepak Prakash to become a member of the Legislature (Legislative Council or Assembly) within six months. With this, his claim for the MLC seat has been confirmed and the political equations have become stronger in his favor.

In this way Upendra Kushwaha achieved two big goals in one effort. He got his son a ministerial post and also ensured the promise of MLC seat from NDA. In such a situation, the strength of Upendra Kushwaha will increase in the Legislative Council also.

Who is included in Nitish cabinet?

1. Samrat Chaudhary
2. Vijay Sinha
3. Vijaykumar Sinha
4. Shravan Kumar
5. Mangal Pandey
6. Ashok Chaudhary
7. Lacey Singh
8. Madan Sahani
9. Nitin Nabin
10. Ramkripal Yadav
11. Santosh Kumar Suman
12. Sunil Kumar
13. Jama Khan
14. Dilip Kumar Jaiswal
15. Sanjay Singh Tiger
16.
