After being expelled from RJD and family, Tej Pratap Yadav met his father Lalu Yadav for the first time in Delhi on Friday (January 09, 2026). There is a lot of discussion about what happened during this meeting.

Actually, on Friday there was a hearing in the ‘Land for Job’ case in Rouse Avenue Court (CBI Special Court) located in Delhi. Many members of Lalu family had reached the court. After appearing in the court, Tej Pratap Yadav reached Misa Bharti’s residence in Delhi and met his father.

Tej Pratap Yadav told the media after the meeting, “Met father. To know about his health. His health is not going well right now. Invited for Chuda-Dahi.” On this the journalists asked him whether he would come? In response, Tej Pratap Yadav said, “Why won’t you come?”

On the other hand, in the Land for Job case, the court has framed charges against 41 accused including Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi, Misa Bharti, Tejashwi Yadav, Tej Pratap Yadav. On this, Jan Shakti Janata Dal President Tej Pratap Yadav said, “We will fight.”

IRCTC Scam Case: The case related to IRCTC hotel scam is to be heard in Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on Monday. The court has formally framed charges against former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi, her son and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and other accused. This entire matter is related to the allotment of two hotels of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) located in Ranchi and Puri. Let us know whether Tejashwi Yadav will be able to contest the Bihar assembly elections or not if the case continues.

While framing the charges, the court has declared him fit to be prosecuted under crimes like corruption, conspiracy and cheating. The court has said that there were irregularities in the contract process and the beneficiary company was helped in winning the tender. Instead, the allegation is that properties like land were given to the Lalu family to benefit them in corrupt ways.

What is the matter?

This case is related to the tenders which were issued for the maintenance and operation of two IRCTC hotels located in Ranchi and Puri. It is alleged that these tenders were awarded to a private company named Sujatha Hotels in an irregular manner by misusing political and administrative influence. According to the CBI, in exchange for these tenders, valuable land in Patna was deposited with the Lalu family, which was allegedly transferred at non-market rates. This investigation started in the year 2017 when CBI had registered the FIR in the case and later prepared the chargesheet.

What are the chances of Tejashwi Yadav contesting the elections?

The answer is yes, because right now only charges have been framed against Tejashwi Yadav and not punishment. According to Indian law, he can contest elections unless he is sentenced by a court and if the sentence is two years or more. Section 8 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, under which a person can be deprived of the right to be elected or contest elections only if he is convicted of a serious crime and sentenced to death.

Therefore, Tejashwi Yadav’s eligibility to contest the elections still remains. However, if the court finds them guilty and imposes the maximum sentence, they may be temporarily or permanently disqualified.
