The performance was led by the National Democracy Party (RPP) and other monarchy groups mainly. The protesters were waving Nepal’s national flags and had pictures of former King Gyanendra Shah in their hands. They were shouting slogans like “King Come, Save the Desh” and “We want the monarchy back”. In view of the stressful atmosphere, the administration has deployed special security forces.

Nepal ended its 240 -year -old monarchy under a parliamentary announcement in 2008 and converted the country into a federal, democratic republic. However, in recent months some groups are again demanding restoration of monarchy. This demand intensified when former King Gyanendra Shah appealed for public support by releasing a video message on Democracy Day on 19 February.

In view of the situation, Kathmandu, the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Nepal government and the District Administration Office, issued an order to impose curfew. Time: From 3:25 pm to 10:00 pm, any kind of gathering, procession, demonstrations, picketing and movement have been banned within the four -kilometer radius of Kathmandu Municipal Corporation.
