Punjab News: Gangsters sitting abroad are using the jail network to demand extortion from businessmen. After the encounter of the henchmen of Rohit Godara gang in Ludhiana, Punjab, it was revealed that gangster Rohit Godara, sitting abroad, hired shooters through his henchman Shubham Grover, who was imprisoned in Ferozepur jail.

In the police interrogation so far, it has come to light that Shubham Grover, imprisoned in Ferozepur jail, is directly connected to the Rohit Godara gang. Through that he demands extortion from businessmen in different cities. An extortion money of Rs 50 lakh was also demanded from Himanshu, a cloth merchant in Ludhiana’s Civil City, through Shubham Grover.

Three shooters arrested, investigation into criminal records continues

Three shooters, who opened fire at a cloth merchant’s shop when he did not pay extortion money, are now in police custody. Two shooters were seriously injured in the police encounter, while one was caught by the police during the encounter. Police have arrested Sumit alias Altron alias Tunda, Sanju and Sumit. Sanju and Sumit were injured due to bullet injuries in the encounter.

Police is interrogating Sumit alias Tunda

Police had caught Sumit alias Tunda during the encounter. The police have taken him to the station and now he is being interrogated. Police is trying to collect information about Mahinder Dhalana through Sumit Tunda. The other accused are still seriously injured and cannot be interrogated at this time.

Police arrested three shooters

Of the three shooters arrested by the police, two are 19 years old and one is 21 years old. According to the police, Sumit alias Tunda is a resident of New Prem Nagar Backside Employment Garden Ghumarmandi and his age is 21 years. The second Sanju Phullanwal is a resident of Gas Agency Tanki Mohalla and his age is 19 years. The third Sumit Kumar is a resident of Dugri LIG flat and his age is also 19 years.

According to the police, FIRs related to attempt to murder, robbery, robbery and drug smuggling have been registered against these accused. At present the police is investigating the criminal records of the accused.

Punjab News: Scholarship examinations are being conducted for class 8th and 10th students in Amritsar district of Punjab. District Education Officer (Secondary) Amritsar Rajesh Sharma said that these examinations will be conducted by the State Council of Educational Research and Training Punjab on January 4, 2026.

There will be a joint examination of NMMSS and PSTSE.

National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) and Punjab State Talent Search Examination (PSTSE) examinations will be held at various 17 examination centers in the district. The exam time has been scheduled from 10 am to 1 pm. During this period, there will be a combined examination of NMMSS and PSTSE for class 8 students, while only PSTSE scholarship examination will be conducted for class 10 students.

A total of 3086 students will participate in the examination

District Education Officer said that a total of 3086 students will appear in the combined examination of class 8th and 10th, while only 2956 students will appear in the PSTSE examination of class 10th. Thus, more than 6 thousand students in the district will appear for the examination to get scholarship.

The department completed all preparations for the examination.

Rajesh Sharma said that the department has completed all preparations for the examination. Strict monitoring, discipline and necessary facilities have been ensured at the examination centres, so that the examination can be conducted in a peaceful and transparent manner.

He appealed to the parents to encourage their children to appear for the examination and cooperate with them to reach the examination center on time. The District Education Officer said that this scholarship examination is a big opportunity to strengthen the academic future of the students.
