DA Hike Latest News: The Government of India has given great news to the central employees today. According to sources, the Union Cabinet has approved a two percent increase in dearness allowance for central employees, pensioners and pensioners. After this decision, DA of employees will now increase.

Total dearness allowance increased to 60 percent

After this decision of the government, now the total dearness allowance of the employees has increased from 58 percent to 60 percent. About 50 lakh government employees and more than 65 lakh pensioners will get the direct benefit of this increase, due to which their monthly salary and pension will increase.

How much will the salary increase now?

Let us tell you that if the basic pay of a central employee is Rs 36 thousand 500, then at the rate of 60 percent his DA will now be Rs 21 thousand 900. The big thing is that now the employees will also get arrears from January. The new rule will be considered effective from January 1, 2026. This means that the employees will not only get the increased salary for the next month, but the outstanding arrears of the last three months i.e. January, February and March will also be given in lump sum.

Employees were waiting for a long time

This step of the Central Government has brought great relief to those employees who were waiting for this announcement for some time and were demanding to increase their income amidst rising inflation. This increase has come at a time when employee organizations are demanding major changes in the pay structure under the 8th Pay Commission.

Why is dearness allowance increased?

Due to rising inflation, the government increases dearness allowance twice a year in January and July to cover the expenses of government employees. It is calculated on the basis of data (CPI-IW) released by the Labor Ministry, which shows how much the prices of essential commodities have increased. In simple words, as the prices rise in the market, the government increases this allowance to maintain the value of your salary.
