Layoffs 2025: In the year 2025, many tech companies around the world conducted layoffs. Due to this, more than 120,000 people lost their jobs. This was a year when there were large-scale cuts in the workforce of the global tech industry.

Companies laid off people due to their focus on cutting expenses, restructuring of working patterns and changes being made regarding artificial intelligence. Roles were reduced in many different sectors, from chip manufacturing companies to IT service firms and cloud and telecom companies.

Intel laid off the most people

Intel laid off the most employees from its place. Semiconductor company Intel laid off about 24,000 people to rein in its expenses and change its foundry-focused business model.

After this, the name of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) came at second place, which laid off about 20,000 staff. The reasons for this were said to be lack of skills and greater adoption of AI-based delivery models. This means that these two companies were hit hard by layoffs this year. Verizon also eliminated about 15,000 roles while restructuring its operations to reduce costs.

Amazon is no less in terms of layoffs

Amazon’s name was also included in the list of companies making layoffs this year. This year, Amazon reduced its workforce by eliminating about 14,000 management and administrative roles. Dell Technologies also reduced about 12,000 people from its total workforce. The company focused on cost management and turned to AI-optimized hardware and enterprise services.

People lost their jobs in these companies also

Accenture and SAP also made mass layoffs. As client demand shifted towards generative AI projects, Accenture reduced the company by about 11,000 staff. SAP eliminated 10,000 roles to manage its cloud computing and business AI resources.

Microsoft laid off about 9,000 people across several divisions, including gaming and Azure, and prioritized long-term AI infrastructure investments. Toshiba cut 5,000 jobs due to restructuring after privatization, while Cisco made the top ten by laying off 4,250 employees by redirecting spending on cyber security and AI development.

AI for Layoffs: In this changing era of Artificial Intelligence (AI), news of layoffs are continuously coming to the fore. Thousands of people are being thrown out of work. Many companies are preparing for more layoffs. Whatever may be the reason, losing a job is no less than a shock for any person. However, it is worth wondering whether AI alone is responsible for people losing their jobs or are there some other reasons too.

Such workers live in Target

Avik, who has been an HR professional on Instagram, said that layoff decisions are not taken overnight. He also told that this phase of layoffs has not started only because of AI automation, but compliance is also responsible for it. This means that employees who do not follow the process or do not complete training are always in the target. They are at the highest risk of losing their jobs.

Now layoffs due to overhiring

Overhiring can also be held responsible for this. After Corona and the sudden boom in digitalization, companies had assumed that growth would continue. During this time, big teams were formed, people were hired indiscriminately, many different roles emerged. Now when the demand is decreasing, the budget is being cut. This is the time when management is forced to reduce the number of its employees. In such a situation, AI alone cannot be made a villain, it is just a means. The real culprit is uncontrolled expansion.

A hint is enough for the wise.

When someone is about to lose his job, he gets many signals such as your workload is suddenly increased, your share of work or responsibility is given to someone else. You start being kept out of meetings, projects or some important discussions. The manager’s behavior changes suddenly. Suddenly faults are found in your work and you are stopped from getting promotion or growth. However, it is not necessary that if this is happening to you too, then your job is in danger, but there is no harm in sensing the signs in time and looking for the right opportunity so that even if there is a layoff, you can easily overcome it.

Nestle Global Job Cuts 2025: A news has come out regarding job cuts in Nestle, one of the country’s largest FMCG sector companies. The company is preparing to fire its 16 thousand employees. Which is about 6 percent of the total employees. This step has been taken by Nestle’s new CEO Philippe Navratil.

Not much time has passed since he joined the company. The CEO said in his statement that the whole world is changing very fast and Nestle will also have to change at the same pace. Whatever strict and necessary steps have to be taken for this, he is ready for it. For example, steps like reducing the number of employees.

What does Nestle have to say about layoffs?

Nestle has informed that this retrenchment will be completed in a period of 2 years. Due to this lay off, 16,000 workers will be laid off. Nestlé has planned layoffs globally. That means, Nestle will furlough employees from every branch in the world. In this retrenchment, 12,000 white collar jobs and 4000 supply chain employees will be laid off.

CEO gave information

Nestlé’s new CEO Philippe Navratil joined the company in 2001. He has reached this position after his long experience. The company will benefit from this retrenchment of 1 billion Swiss francs. Which is double the fixed amount. Navratil also said that the company’s sales have fallen by 1.9 percent in the last 9 months and have reached the figure of 65.9 billion Swiss francs. However, the price of the company has increased by 1.7 percent.

Navratil has indicated through his statements that he can make some major changes in the company. Also, a plan can be worked out to sell such units which are not doing well. Such huge layoffs are being linked to these signs of Navratil. Nestle’s profit margin has also declined and it has fallen from Rs 986 crore to Rs 753 crore as compared to the second quarter of last year.

Layoffs: After the news of a large scale trimmed in the country’s veteran IT service company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the news of the removal of employees in another is coming out. However, it is not a company associated with the IT sector. Amazon is being talked about here. Amazon has shown more than 100 staff from the Wonder Podcast Division of its audio business.

110 people fired from the company

The company has trimmed 110 people including the CEO of Wonder. In a note written to the employees, Amazon’s audio, Twitch and Vice President of Games Steve Boom said that a serene and story -based podcast series like Dr. Death, American Scandal and Business Wars will now be managed under Amazon’s audiobook service audible. The company is now moving towards creator-led, video-based content.

The choice is changing about podcast

Podcasts with creators and celebrities – New Heights with Jason and Travis Kailse, Mind the Game and Armchair expert will form a new creator services group inside Amazon’s Talent Services Division. Wonder brand will be responsible for making some podcasts. Amazon says that this change is inspired by podcast congestion. Video style, personality shows are becoming more popular, especially on platforms like YouTube and Spotify, now new strategies are being adopted to make advertisements, profits and worth discovery.

Wonder’s identity will remain

It is being told by the company, most of the employees who have been extracted from the Wonder Podcast Division have taken over some other work in the company itself. Despite this major change, the identity of the brand will remain as a wonder. Some creator-based shows will continue under its name and its Wonder+ app will also be operational.

Infosys included in large software companies recently had a dispute over the trimming of more than 300 freshers. After this, the company has postponed the internal assessment for trainees for a week. However, Infosys says that this assessment has been postponed with the aim of giving more time to this trainees for preparation.

IT workers’ union Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) has claimed that the assessment of about 800 trainees has been postponed due to its efforts and government action. Infosys Has stated in a statement that he had not received a request to postpone assessment from the government or outside aspects. The company said that the assessment has been extended for a week to provide more time for trainees.

Last week, the Ministry of Labor and Employment directed the Labor Ministry of Karnataka to take necessary action to resolve the dispute of the freshers in Infosys. Earlier, NITES raised the issue of freshers in front of the Labor Ministry in the company’s Mysuru Campus. The Labor Ministry had said, “The Karnataka government is requested to investigate the matter.” Infosys confirmed the trimming of about 300 freshers. The company had said that these workers could not pass internal tests. However, NITES had reported that Infosys had trimmed around 700 workers. These workers joined the company a few months ago.
