Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has given a statement on Monday (August 11, 2025) citing notices received from the Election Commission. Rahul Gandhi said that this is the data of the Election Commission, not mine, on which I should sign the affidavit.

He said, “Put this data on your website, you will find out. All this is an attempt to divert attention from the issue. It has happened not only in Bengaluru but also in many other constituencies.”

After being released from custody, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi while talking to reporters outside Parliament said, “See what is the condition of India’s democracy. 300 MPs wanted to go to meet the Election Commission to hand over only one document, but they were not allowed to leave. Because they are afraid that if 300 MPs reached and their truth came out?”

He said, “This fight is no longer political, but this battle is now for the Constitution and one Man One Vote. We clearly showed in Karnataka that there was ‘Multiple Man, Multiple Vote’. The whole opposition is fighting against it. So it will be very difficult for the Election Commission to hide it.”

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said about the word Chindia

In his interview given to China’s official newspaper Global Times in 2014, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh had said, “Ten years ago when I proposed the word ‘Chindia’ (Chandia), its aim was to cooperate with each other and face the upcoming challenges together.”

He said, “Chindia is not an old or irrelevant thinking; actually this is the approach with which the governments of both countries are moving forward. India and China should not become victims of those who naturally consider each other enemies.”

At the same time, Foreign Minister S.K. Jaishankar also indirectly targeted the earlier comments made by Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi about China. In a program in London in 2023, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi said that the understanding of the Foreign Minister about China was absolutely superficial. He had said, “I spoke to the Foreign Minister, but he does not understand China.” The BJP reacted sharply to this comment of Rahul Gandhi.
