Canada election results: Liberal Party and Prime Minister Mark Carney have won in Canadian parliamentary elections. Under the leadership of former PM Justin Trudeau, the condition of Liberals was bad but after the arrival of Mark Carney, it improved and the party won. At the same time, Khalistanis have suffered a big setback. Separatist leader Jagmeet Singh lost the election. Due to this, Justin Trudeau had spoiled relations with India.

Liberals are currently leading in 167 seats, while Conservatives are leading in 145 seats. Although the counting of votes is still going on, Liberals is still shorted by 172 seats required for the majority in the House of Commons with 343 seats. The Conservative Party of Pierre Polyvre has accepted the defeat.

Will Khalistani agenda be broken?

It is being said that this time the Indian community voted against the Khalistani agenda and that is why Jagmeet Singh has lost. At the same time, after the resignation of Justin Trudeau, the situation of Liberals also improved. There was opposition to Trudeau’s foreign policy within his party itself. Carney’s stance on India is very different from Trudeau. He says that he will focus on improving relations with India.

Carney’s emphasis on improving relations with India

On the Nijjar murder case, he had said that relations between India-Canada have deteriorated but these relationships are necessary at many levels. We have a chance to rectify this relationship again with respect. There is tension in relationships, which we have not produced. The economy of the world is shaken, in such a situation, both countries can play a big role.

During the election campaign, Carney spoke on the need to cooperate with the ‘like -minded’ countries like India. In an interview to Toronto Star in February, Carney said, “Different people, different policies, different ways to rule.” Some time ago, it was told in the report of Hindustan Times that as soon as the new government is formed, the two countries are thinking of appointing their High Commissioners.
