LIC Bonus Share: Shares of the country’s insurance sector giant Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) will be in focus tomorrow on April 13. The company is going to give bonus shares to its shareholders. In the information given to the stock market on April 7, LIC had said that the meeting of the company’s board of directors is going to be held on April 13.

In this meeting, the proposal to issue bonus shares to the shareholders will be considered. That means it will be finalized tomorrow as to whom the bonus shares will be given and in what proportion. If this is approved by the board, then the existing shareholders of the company will get some free shares for every share they already hold. This will increase the number of shares held by him. However, the price will reduce in the same proportion.

Who will get the benefit of bonus shares?

The benefit of bonus shares will be available only to those shareholders who hold LIC shares before the record date. At present, the record date has not been announced. The record date for issuing bonus shares can be fixed only after tomorrow’s meeting. However, after the recommendation of the board, it will also be necessary to take approval from the shareholders to implement this proposal. This is being considered a historic step for LIC because the company is going to give bonus shares for the first time after its listing in the stock market in 2022.

Trading window closed for now

Stock exchanges have been informed that the trading window for trading in equity shares is currently closed and will remain closed till 48 hours after the announcement of results for the quarter and financial year ending March 31, 2026. Before the decision on the bonus issue is taken from April 13, the company has kept the trading window closed for its employees and board members so that no one can take advantage of the inside information. SEBI also rules that people associated with the company are not allowed to trade in the shares of the company for some time before and after such important announcements.
