Thailand Cambodia Conflict: Cambodia has made serious allegations against Thailand just hours after US President Donald Trump announced the ceasefire. Cambodia says that despite agreeing to a ceasefire, Thailand continued air strikes on its territory. After these allegations, tension seems to be deepening once again in this sensitive border area of ​​South-East Asia.

Cambodia’s Defense Ministry said in a statement released on the social media platform ‘X’ that the Thai army launched new attacks in its area on Saturday. According to the statement, ‘On December 13, 2025, the Thai military, using two F-16 fighter planes, dropped seven bombs on several locations inside Cambodia.’ The ministry also said that despite the ceasefire announcement, the bombings by Thai military aircraft have not stopped.

No response from Thailand

At present, there has been no official response from the Thai authorities on these allegations of Cambodia. However, due to the already ongoing allegations and counter-allegations between the two countries, the situation has become more sensitive.

Trump had announced ceasefire

Cambodia’s latest allegations have come at a time when US President Donald Trump had announced a day earlier that the leaders of Thailand and Cambodia had agreed to stop hostilities and re-implement the ceasefire. This agreement was reached after several days of deadly clashes, which threatened to break the ceasefire already in place.

Donald Trump had told through social media post that he had separate talks with Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet. He also said that Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim played an important role in making this agreement possible.

The first ceasefire took place in July

It is noteworthy that the first ceasefire between the two countries took place in July, which was decided with the mediation of Malaysia. This agreement was advanced after pressure from Trump, when he warned that business facilities could be withdrawn if the rules were not followed. The agreement was formalized in more detail at a regional meeting in Malaysia in October, which Trump also attended.

According to the report of Bloomberg News Agency, Thailand has said that 10 of its soldiers were killed and dozens were injured in the recent violence. At the same time, Cambodia said that 10 civilians including a child have died and at least 60 people have been injured. However, Cambodia has not shared military casualty figures.

The peace talks between Pakistan and Afghanistan in Türkiye’s capital Istanbul once again ended without any result. The objective of this meeting was to reach a consensus on the ongoing border tension between the two countries and the activities of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), but the talks broke down due to Pakistan’s tactics. According to sources, Pakistan sought permission to enter into Afghan territory and take action against TTP hideouts, to which Kabul expressed strong objection. There was a heated debate between the two sides on this issue and the atmosphere of talks deteriorated.

The Afghan side had assured Pakistan that it would not allow its soil to be used for anti-Pakistan activities. In return, Kabul demanded Islamabad to stop violating its airspace and stop flights of American drones. Initially Pakistan seemed to agree, but after a sudden “unknown call” its stand changed. According to NDTV report, after this call, Pakistan admitted for the first time that it has an agreement to fly drones with a foreign country (hint American), which cannot be canceled.

Afghanistan distanced itself from the meeting

Afghanistan took this revelation seriously and distanced itself from the meeting. This attitude of Pakistan was shocking for both Türkiye and Qatar, who were the mediators of this talk. After this, Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif in his statement described Afghanistan as “Pakistan’s pawn” and warned that if Pakistan is attacked, the reply will be given with “fifty percent more force”.

Afghanistan gave a blunt answer

Afghanistan also responded bluntly. Its Home Ministry spokesperson Abdul Matin Kani said, “We do not have nuclear weapons, but Afghans have never bowed before anyone. Which is enough to teach Pakistan a lesson.” Afghan Defense Minister Maulvi Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid also said that “TTP is an internal problem of Pakistan. Its members are Pakistani citizens, against whom Afghanistan has no jurisdiction to take action.”

It said that Thai soldiers spreading ghostly sounds in the border areas are creating fear, anxiety and mental stress among the citizens.

Zalmay Khalilzad, former US Special Envoy to Afghanistan, said on social media platforms that Qatar has changed its earlier statement on the ceasefire between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

What did the Defense Minister of Afghanistan say?

Meanwhile, Afghan Defense Minister Mullah Yakub Mujahid said in an online press conference from Doha that there was no discussion on the Durand Line during the talks. He clarified that there is no mention of Durand Line in the agreement and it is only an internal matter of both the countries. He also said that if Pakistan attacks, Afghanistan will not hesitate to retaliate.

The dispute regarding Durand Line has been going on for a long time. Afghanistan never accepts it, while Pakistan considers it the real international border. Due to this disagreement, violent clashes have taken place several times on the borders of both the countries.

Asif also accused the Taliban government ruling in Kabul of working in India’s interests and a conspiracy was being hatched against Pakistan due to the collusion between India and the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Initially Torkham border was closed. Torkham border is one of the main trade routes of these two countries. Later Pakistan closed all the main border crossings with Afghanistan. There is a 2,611 km long Durand Line between the two countries, which Afghanistan never recognizes.
