A unique and heart-touching incident was seen in the Meghalaya Assembly on Tuesday. Here during the Question Hour, a good debate was seen between Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and his wife NPP MLA Mehtab Chandi A Sangma. MLA Mehtab Chandi A Sangma had raised questions on the stalled veterinary training center project.

During Question Hour, Gambegre MLA Mehtab Chandi A Sangma had sought clarification on the pace of development of one veterinary college, two fishery colleges and one dairy college. These were approved by the cabinet in the year 2022. Also expressed concern over the shortage of manpower in veterinary training centers across the state.

What information did the Chief Minister give?

On this, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma smiled and said that the purpose of the proposed institutions is to strengthen the livestock sector of Meghalaya. He said that these were three colleges, about which we have decided keeping in mind the immediate need. Keeping in mind that a large population of the state is engaged in animal husbandry. This is definitely a matter of concern. Steps are being taken to bridge the shortage of manpower as soon as possible. He said that filling the vacant places would be a priority. Also said that there has been a delay in preparing the detailed project report, due to which the process took time due to identification of land and planning due to manpower requirements.

Veterinary college to be built on 800 acres

The Chief Minister said that about 800 acres of land has been identified in Ri-Bhoi Kirdemkulai for the proposed Veterinary College. It is estimated that approximately Rs 334 crore will be spent on this project. 19 departments will be included in this. He said that we are worried because the need for money is very high. Also, efforts will be made to complete this process quickly.
