Seva Teerth Inauguration: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has recently inaugurated Seva Teerth along with Dutta Bhawan 1 and 2. This is a big step towards change in the power corridor of Delhi. Seva Teerth will have the Prime Minister’s Office, National Security Council Secretariat and Cabinet Secretariat. In the last few years, the Central Government has changed the names of many special places. Its objective is to remove the legacy of the colonial era and strengthen democratic and constitutional values.

Changed name of Rajpath

The name of Rajpath has been changed to Duty Path. This change was made in September 2022. Let us tell you that the duty path extends from Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate.

Old Parliament House now Constitution House

After the parliamentary proceedings shifted to the new building, the name of the old Parliament House has now been changed to Constitution House. Let us tell you that this is the same building where the Constituent Assembly of India prepared the draft of the Constitution of independent India between 1946 and 1949. Along with this, the newly built Parliament House is called Sansad Bhawan. It is now the main venue for parliamentary proceedings.

South Block renamed as Seva Tirtha

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has renamed the South Block complex as Seva Tirtha with the inauguration on 13 February 2026. There are many important offices in this complex including PMO and Cabinet Secretariat. Although earlier Seva Tirtha was named ‘Executive Enclave’, but on 2 December 2025, its name was changed to Seva Tirtha.

Central Secretariat now duty building

The newly constructed General Central Secretariat Building is now officially called Dutta Bhavan. The name matches the larger theme of Duty shown in Path of Duty.

Change in the name of Race Course Road and Mughal Garden

The name of Race Course Road leading to the Prime Minister’s residence has been changed to Lok Kalyan Marg. Along with this, the name of the famous Mughal Garden inside Rashtrapati Bhavan has also been changed to Amrit Udyan. The purpose of changing this name was to show the larger spirit of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.

Name of Raj Bhavan also changed

In different states, the name of government houses known as Raj Bhavan has also been changed to Log Bhawan. The argument behind this was that the name Raj Bhavan reflects the colonial mentality.
