The notification issued on October 16 states that the “Ombudsman of India” has issued an open tender for the supply of seven BMW 3 Series LI cars from reputed agencies. These cars will be used by the Chairman and all the six members of Lokpal. It is being told that the price of these cars will be around Rs 70 lakh per unit. That means in total vehicles worth around Rs 5 crore will be purchased. Not only this, it has also been said in the notification that the BMW company will give a seven-day training course to the drivers and employees, in which they will be given information about the electronic systems of the vehicles and their operation.

The country’s anti-corruption watchdog i.e. Lokpal of India has issued a proposal to purchase 7 luxury BMW cars to further improve its administrative and logistics system. The price of each car is said to be more than Rs 60 lakh, which has sparked controversy on social media. A public tender was issued by Lokpal on 16 October 2025 for the purchase of 7 BMW LI (Long Wheel Base).

BMW will provide training to Lokpal office drivers

It has been told in the notice of Lokpal that the bid submission will start from October 17, while the last date for bid submission is November 6 at 3 pm. Technical scrutiny of the bid will start from November 7. These cars will have to be delivered within 30 days of placing the order. After delivery, the company BMW will provide one week training to the drivers and employees of the Lokpal office through its experts. During this, information related to electronic system and its operation will be given.

‘Members of Lokpal are engrossed in their luxury’

Congress leader Shama Mohammad and Supreme Court lawyer Prashant Bhushan have targeted the Modi government at the Center regarding this tender of Lokpal of India. Prashant Bhushan said, “Modi government has kept an institution like Lokpal vacant for many years and then appointed such people who have left it in dust. These members do not care about corruption. Everyone is engrossed in their luxury. Now they are buying BMW cars worth Rs 70 lakh for themselves.”

Congress spokesperson Shama Mohammed also targeted the Lokpal of India. He posted on X and wrote, “Lokpal wants to buy 7 luxury BMW cars worth Rs 5 crore for himself. This is the same institution which was supposed to fight corruption after the so-called India Against Corruption movement. This movement was supported by RSS, whose only objective was to topple the Congress government.”
