According to reports, America has lost military aircraft and drones worth billions of dollars between March and April 2026 alone. These include aircraft like F-15E Strike Eagle, A-10 Thunderbolt and the state-of-the-art F-35 Lightning II. Each fighter jet is worth crores, and their downfall has not only caused financial losses but also hurt the ‘invincible’ image of the US Air Force.

In the early weeks of April alone, the US lost 24 ‘MQ-9 Reaper’ drones, worth more than Rs 6,000 crore ($720 million). Apart from this, ‘MQ-4C Triton’ drone worth about Rs 2,000 crore crashed in the Persian Gulf. This drone is so expensive that two F-35 fighter planes could have been purchased for its price. This loss of drones is a major strategic and economic blow for America.

Attack on radar and defense systems

Iran’s missile and drone capabilities have also breached the American security cordon. During the war, Iran has targeted several important American radar systems and satellite terminals. These include radars of advanced missile defense systems like THAAD and early warning radars like AN/TPY-2. Reinstalling these systems is not only costly but also time consuming. The destruction of radar systems is making American bases in the Gulf countries unsafe.
