LPG Cylinder Price Hike: Today i.e. on Sunday, June 7, the prices of domestic LPG cylinders were increased by Rs 29. However, even though there has been no change in the rules with the rate increase, the guidelines issued earlier by the Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) are fully effective.

Amid rising prices, the government has implemented several rules to protect consumers, prevent black marketing of gas and ensure smooth supply. Let’s take a look at these:-

ban on dual connection

If you have a piped natural gas (PNG) connection, you cannot keep a domestic cylinder. It is mandatory to surrender LPG connection within 30 days of commissioning of PNG. If you do not do this, the oil companies will automatically block your LPG connection.

refill locking period

The time limit between booking of two gas cylinders has been extended. After purchasing one cylinder, the second cylinder cannot be booked 25 days in advance. This rule is for urban consumers. This gap of booking in villages has been fixed at 45 days so that hoarding can be prevented.

Delivery Authentication Code

Under the security system, as soon as the gas is booked, a security PIN or OTP is sent to the consumer’s phone. Cylinder handover will be done only after showing this code to the delivery boy. This will prevent black marketing of cylinders and theft of gas. The cylinder will not be delivered to the wrong address or to the wrong person. Gas companies will have updated live data of consumers.

Aadhaar Biometric e-KYC

It has been made mandatory for all valid consumers to complete the e-KYC process of gas account. Those consumers who have not yet updated their biometrics or Aadhaar KYC by visiting the agency or through the mobile app, their gas subsidy may be stopped or they may face problems in their next booking.

Each family will get only 12 subsidized domestic cylinders in a financial year. If more cylinders are required than this, the current higher market rates (e.g. Rs 942 in Delhi) will have to be paid.

LPG Cylinder Booking Rules: The month of May started and booking gas cylinder also became expensive. On the very first day of the month, Indian oil marketing companies increased the prices of commercial gas cylinders, which is the biggest increase till date.

Now you will not be able to book within this many days

Amidst the tension in the Middle East, the Indian government took several steps to stop the crisis of LPG shortage. One of these is the refilling lock-in period. The government has increased the booking time from 21 to 25 days in urban areas and to 45 days in rural areas. If you try to book before this deadline, the system will not accept your booking and will automatically stop it.

OTP-based delivery required

Now after booking LPG cylinder, you will get confirmation of the order on your registered mobile number. However, at the time of delivery of LPG, it is necessary to give one-time password (OTP) to the delivery agent. Otherwise you will not get your LPG cylinder. Last month, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said that if consumers do not share OTP, delivery of LPG will not be possible.

This step has been taken so that the gas cylinders do not fall into the wrong hands. Also, OMCs have stressed on giving priority to OTP-based delivery to avoid mishandling of LPG cylinders and ensure transparency.

Aadhaar-based eKYC

The government has made Aadhaar based e-KYC mandatory for the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. The ministry said that this rule is only for those people who have not yet done e-KYC. Those who have already got their KYC done, there is no need to ask them to get it done again.

6. Emergency Helpline: In case of any serious LPG related emergency, such as gas leak or any safety related emergency, customers should contact the national LPG emergency number 1906.

How to book Bharat Gas LPG cylinder online?

1. IVRS Booking Number: Customers can request for refill by calling 7715012345 or 7718012345 from their registered mobile number.

2. SMS Booking: Or you can send a message by typing ‘LPG’ to 7715012345 or 7718012345 from your registered mobile number.

3. WhatsApp Booking: To book your LPG through WhatsApp, you must first save the BPCL Smartline number 1800224344 in your contacts. Then to start booking, you have to type ‘Hi’ or ‘Book’ on this number on your WhatsApp app.

4. Mobile App: You can also install Bharatgas application from Play Store. Log in to the app using your registered mobile number and select ‘Refill Cylinder’ option for further process.

5. Other apps: Apart from BP, you can also book refill through UMANG app. This is a unified app supported by the government for all gas cylinders.

1. IVRS Service: You can dial 88888 23456 from your registered mobile number.

2. Missed Call: Give a missed call to 94936 02222 to order refill.

3. WhatsApp: Send a quick ‘Hi’ on your WhatsApp to 92222 01122. Make sure that the message is sent from the registered mobile number only.

4. Website: To order refill, visit the official website www.myhpgas.in.

5. Mobile Apps: You can also choose to refill HP Gas through applications like UMANG, Amazon Pay, Paytm, PhonePe and other BBPS-enabled apps.

LPG Booking Increased: There is currently no improvement in the situation between US and Iran, which is affecting the supply of gas and petrol and diesel around the world. Meanwhile, the government has now revealed that there has been an increase in online bookings of LPG gas cylinders. Domestic LPG gas is being given priority and its delivery has also been increased to 99 percent on the basis of industry.

DAC based deliveries increased
Recently it has been told by the government that deliveries based on Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) have increased. With this the delivery of cylinders has increased by about 92 percent. DAC is received on your registered mobile number. The Petroleum Ministry said, ‘Many LPG distributors are working even on Sunday so that there is no shortage of domestic LPG cylinders.’ He also said that the total commercial LPG allocation has also been increased to about 70 percent of the pre-crisis levels, which includes 10 percent reform-related allocation.

The ministry also informed that, from March 23, 2026 till now, more than 18.45 lakh 5 kg free trade LPG cylinders have been sold. A three-member committee of executive directors of IOCL, HPCN and BPCL is engaged in talks with state officials and industry people to chalk out a plan for commercial LPG distribution in the states and union territories. In the last 5 days, on an average, more than 7 thousand metric tons of commercial LPG has been sold every day.

People are also getting PNG connections done
Apart from this, it has also been said in the government data that, from March 2026 till now, more than 4.93 lakh PNG connections have been gasified. Also, more than 5.51 lakh consumers have registered for new connections. As of April 19, around 39,200 PNG consumers have surrendered their LPG connections through the MYPNGD.in website.

LPG Cylinder Booking: Amidst the ongoing tension in West Asia, the government has set some rules to ensure that the gas supply reaches every home without any interruption. Every customer using LPG should be aware of these rules. According to the new rules set by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a common citizen can book only a maximum of two cylinders in a month.

If a customer tries to book a cylinder more than this limit, the system may block his booking or the process of additional verification may start. The government provides 12 subsidized cylinders every financial year (which runs from April 1 to March 31). Apart from this quota, if needed, the customer can buy three more non-subsidized cylinders. This means that in this way a maximum of 15 cylinders can be booked on one connection in a year.

These things are also included in the new rules

Earlier, the second cylinder could be booked exactly 21 days after the first cylinder, but now this time period has been extended to 25 days. This means that you will have to wait a little longer than before before booking your next cylinder.

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has started a new system to book extra cylinders. If you have already exhausted your annual quota of 12 cylinders, but still want to book more cylinders, then you will have to provide some important information. To do this you will have to use ‘Hello BPCL’ mobile application. This app will ask you many questions, such as-

• Is there any family function like wedding etc. or any special event at your home?
• What is the estimated number of guests?
• Based on your answers to these questions, it will be decided whether you are entitled to get an extra cylinder or not.

Keep these things in mind also

• Now at the time of delivery of the cylinder, an OTP (DAC) will come on your registered number. You will be able to get the cylinder only after telling this code to the delivery boy.
• Cylinder booking can be done only through registered mobile number. Booking is almost impossible without a registered mobile number. If your old number has changed, it is necessary to get it updated by visiting the agency or through the app.
• The government has made it mandatory for all domestic gas consumers to get e-KYC done. Those whose KYC is not updated, their subsidy may be stopped or there may be difficulty in booking.
