Can PNG and LPG connection be available in the same name, what are the rules?

Amidst the news of increasing tension in the Middle East and conflict between America and Iran, booking of LPG cylinders has suddenly increased in the country. Regarding this, the Central Government has made it clear that there is no shortage of LPG in the country and people do not need to panic and book cylinders. According to officials of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, in recent times the booking of LPG has increased to about 75.7 lakh per day, whereas earlier the average booking was about 55.7 lakh. Officials say that this increase is not due to actual shortage but due to fear among the people.

Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary, Petroleum Ministry, said that about 25,000 LPG distributors across the country have sufficient stock and there is no report of any dealer running out of gas. Instead of panicking, he has appealed to the people to adopt piped natural gas i.e. PNG gas connection. So that the pressure on LPG supply can be reduced. In such a situation, let us now tell you whether PNG and LPG connection can be got in the same name and what are the rules regarding this.

Can PNG and LPG connection be available in the same name?

Some time ago, the government changed the rules and allowed consumers to have both LPG and PNG connections in the same house. However, such consumers will have to buy LPG cylinders at market rates, which means they will not get subsidy. Under earlier rules, in those houses where PNG connection was started, LPG connection had to be surrendered. The gas distribution company used to take written assurance from the consumers that they would return the LPG connection. But later the rules have been amended, due to which it has now become possible to keep both the connections simultaneously.

What is PNG connection?

PNG i.e. Piped Natural Gas is a facility in which natural gas is delivered directly to homes through pipeline network. There is no hassle of changing the cylinder in it and it is considered a safer and economical option as compared to LPG. In domestic use, it is used for cooking and heating water through gas geysers.

Where and how to apply for PNG connection?

In areas like Delhi NCR where PNG pipeline is present, consumers can apply for connection through PNG gas distribution companies. For this, online application can be made by visiting the official website of the company. After the application, the company asks for necessary documents from the consumer and after the completion of the document process, the connection process is started.

It is written along with the video that such content creators are defaming the government and action should be taken against them, however many people are watching the video humorously and are calling it Jugaad technology.

The guy made roti on the clothes press

In the video going viral, it can be seen that a person is preparing to make roti in the kitchen. He first makes a ball of dough and rolls it with the help of a rolling pin. After this, instead of gas stove or pan, he uses an electric iron to press clothes. The person first connects the press to electricity and heats it and then starts baking bread using it like a pan.

It is clearly visible in the video that the roti kept on the hot press starts roasting slowly. The roti is ready within some time. Many people were surprised to see this unique method, because generally a pan and gas stove are required to make roti.

After the video went viral, different reactions of people are coming out on social media. Some users are calling it the best Indian jugaad, while some people are also calling it dangerous. One user jokingly wrote that this talent should not go out of India. Another user wrote, America has accepted defeat. However, many people are also saying that such experiments may seem good as a joke, but one should not try to do them at home because using an electric press in this way can be dangerous and may even lead to an accident.
