LPG Price Hike: Due to the ongoing war between US-Iran, people in India are also facing the brunt of inflation. In the last few days, along with petrol and diesel, the prices of commercial and LPG gas cylinders have also increased. But the onslaught of inflation has not stopped yet but is going to increase further in the future. It has been confirmed by the government that the prices of domestic gas are going to increase further in the coming time.

Statement from the government
In fact, recently Union Minister Prahlad Joshi has said that the prices of petrol and diesel may increase in the coming time. He said, ‘We are also sad and regretful over the increase in the price of gas cylinder. But before criticizing it, people should understand the current situation of the world. At present the whole world is facing many serious crises.

He further said, ‘The transportation and supply of goods (transshipment) is being affected across the world. LPG is also now available from very few places. In such a situation, pressure on supply and prices has increased.

The government is concerned about the common people
Taking his point forward, he said, ‘The cost of transportation has increased significantly. The base cost of gas is also high. Apart from this, it is taking 40-45 days to transport the goods from one place to another, due to which the insurance cost has also increased. We are equally concerned about the problems of the common people, but in the current situation, increasing the price of gas has become a compulsion.

Prices have increased recently
Let us tell you that recently on Sunday, June 7, the prices of domestic gas cylinders have increased. After the increase of Rs 29 per cylinder, now the price of 14.2 kg cylinder in the market has become Rs 942 in Delhi. Earlier, the prices of commercial gas cylinders had also increased. Due to which a lot of tension was seen between traders and those doing food related business.

With the beginning of the year 2026, common people have been dealt a severe blow by inflation. On the very first day of the new year, oil marketing companies have increased the prices of LPG gas cylinders significantly. From January 1, 2026, the price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder has been increased by Rs 111 across the country.

The new prices have been implemented in all big cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. However, it is a matter of relief that at present there has been no change in the prices of 14 kg domestic LPG cylinder.

New prices of LPG cylinder came into effect from January 1
Oil marketing companies have implemented new rates for commercial LPG cylinders from January 1, 2026. This increase in prices is believed to directly impact hotels, restaurants and small businessmen.

How much did the prices increase in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai?
According to the new rates, a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder will now be available for Rs 1691.50 instead of Rs 1580.50 in the capital Delhi. Its price in Kolkata has increased from Rs 1684 to Rs 1795. In Mumbai, the cylinder which was earlier available for Rs 1531.50, now costs Rs 1642.50. Whereas in Chennai its price has been increased from Rs 1739.50 to Rs 1849.50.

Commercial cylinder became cheaper in December
It is noteworthy that earlier on December 1, 2025, the prices of commercial LPG cylinders were reduced. During that time, relief of up to Rs 10 was given in Delhi and Kolkata, while relief of up to Rs 11 was given in Mumbai and Chennai.

Prices had also decreased in November
Not only this, the prices of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders were also reduced on the first of November 2025. At that time the price in Delhi was reduced from Rs 1595.50 to Rs 1590, in Kolkata it was reduced from Rs 1700.50 to Rs 1694, in Mumbai it was reduced from Rs 1547 to Rs 1542 and in Chennai it was reduced from Rs 1754.50 to Rs 1750.

No change in domestic LPG cylinder prices
While on one hand the prices of commercial LPG cylinders are constantly changing, on the other hand the prices of domestic gas cylinders have remained stable for a long time. The prices of 14 kg domestic LPG cylinder remain at the level of April 2025.

Current price of domestic cylinder in your city
At present, domestic LPG cylinder is available for Rs 853 in Delhi, Rs 879 in Kolkata, Rs 852 in Mumbai and Rs 868 in Chennai. There is a possibility of increase in the prices of food, drinks and other services due to the increase in cost of commercial cylinders at the beginning of the new year.
